Default Delta [Hiring Quota] via DCI [ALPA]

If any of you have been reading the boards recently it's hard to miss the Delta TA that was passed today. According to sources posting on this board it includes some sort of flow up program for current DCI-ers. Numbers like 35% of new-hires would be DCI. Thoughts?

You are correct, but only those represented by ALPA it seems. Given the economics with oil prices vs. small capacity aircraft its reasonable to see contraction of the RJ's. You can be sure the UAL/CAL MEC's will look into this language..if they haven't done so already.

It might be time for the anti-union Skywesters to think twice if they want a leg up.

From Section 1- Scope:

the Company will fill a minimum of 35% of the
aggregate of all positions in Delta pilot new-hire classes in each trailing twelve month period (to the extent airmen are available) with ALPA-represented airmen at Delta Connection Carriers, subject to such airmen meeting the Company’s competitive hiring standards, and subject to the Company’s objectives for diversity and experience among newly hired pilots. Airmen who flow up pursuant to LOA #24 and LOA #25 count toward satisfaction of such minimum percentage.
j. The Company will offer preferential interviews for employment to airmen employed
by carriers (whose airmen were represented by the Association) at the time those
carriers ceased operations, subject to the Company’s objectives for diversity and
experience among newly hired pilots and subject to Section 1 B. 40. fi.

Oh I missed that part. The significantly limits the pool of pilots vs the whole DCI pool!

Who would be included then?
ExpressJet/ASA
Pinnacle/Mesaba/Colgan
???

I wouldn't hold my breath for a Delta flowthrough that will actually deliver.

The TA was only passed from the MEC for the pilot group to vote on. If it passes, the scope relaxation will make any flow through moot for a long time.

It's not a flow up.

35% of each class must be made up from DCI ALPA pilots, and flow ups from CPZ and XJ count toward that number.

The rest must meet qualifications and be hired.

I believe it has to do with DCI furloughs that will result from the new RJ clauses in section 1. The 50 seaters in 2015 under current contracts would be 311. The TA section 1 makes it a hard cap of 125.
