Default United/Continental vacation passes

So I found out the other day that mainline employees are bumping express employees off of their own metal. Apparently they have these vacation passes that put them at a higher priority. I hope that everyone who reads this believes that this needs to stop immediately and puts pressure on their reps to have this changed. If they want to use them, that's fine, but they should not be able to bump people off of their own metal, regardless of what pass they have. Let them go fight with each other over a mainline flight, don't come over here and bump our people off. We have no priority on their planes, so they shouldn't have any on ours.

This is kind of old news at Expressjet. We used to get them too and we were the exact same pass class as the mainline employees by date of hire. We lost them when ASA renegotiated our CBA and we were completely screwed by mainline employees listing on our own airplanes using those passes because they knew we didn't have them. Under the new system, we are the same pass class as a mainline employee using a vacation pass but it is DOH again. So most of the mainline employees who are 1980-1990 hires are still in front of express employees anyway.

I would much rather have the ability to book 6 round trip tickets a year where we are able to book a regular paying seat. None of this priority nonsense and you could actually take a vacation and not have to shell out a grand on tickets.

It is pretty embarrassing to be working for an airline and not have buddy passes, a reliable way to book a vacation, or any type of priority. Listing on mainline flights we are listed behind their unaccompanied pass riders which is a pretty big slap in the face considering we are trying to get to work. Moral of the story is that United treats its employees like garbage and no one wants to fight for anything better.

you should ask your friends working for DCI carriers, same thing there, it s not unique to UAL/UAEX

Exept for skywest and maybe comair since they are still owned by DAL, a more senior DAL employee WILL bump a DCI employee on their "own" flight.

DCI peeps don't get buddy passes either and their parents travel privilege are basically to buy a zed fare.

that s what happen when you work for a CONTRACT carrier who doesn't do any flying on its own.

Vacation passes still only bring them equal with employees of the UAX affiliate operating the flight. Then it goes by date of hire. So some of the senior guys at Regionals still can't be bumped. Don't worry, a lot of the employees are new to the Vacation Pass thing and have been using them like candy since the system went in place. They'll be running out of V-passes soon, L-CAL people know to save them and only use them when absolutely necessary.

not true for all dci, re read my post : like i said comair and skywest might be the case but not the others,

on compass & pinnacle, DAL are always S3 like the employees so a senior DAL will bump Compass on their flight

Well that is bizarre, I've seen an S2 pass go to an S3C in SLC because mainline doesn't get priority on SKW.

I was screwed by this a week ago and looking at the nonrev list for my commute home tonight, it appears it's about to bite me again.

Not just their employees, hence their main problem.
