Default AWAC mins

I just noticed on AWAC's pilot hiring page the mins are posted 1000/250. What happened to 1000/100? Anyone know whats realistic for getting hired there?

Also, I just saw this as well...

"We are accepting resumes from pilots with a first class medical, and ATP or ATP written and minimum of: 1,000 hours total time and 250 hours multi-engine, turbine time. FAR 121 experience preferred."

1000/100 were never the "published" minimums, at least in the past 2 years. In fact, prior to that I believe they were 1500/250 and prior to that they were 2500/1000 multi 500 turbine.

They did hire below that when they needed people or guys from internal recs. Keep in mind the company, with one of the the highest scheduled 121 pay scales in the country, can be pretty selective now that they are hiring 6-10 people per month. A lot are 121/135 people. Although, all classes are done for the year. Look for another small class in early 2007.

I thought BF's email said they were considering one more class...

They *are* continuing interviews through the end of this year, to establish a pool for classes after the first of the year. Thats alot of interviews for potential FOs...unless there is some new flying coming that we haven't been told about yet

Something I'm confused about is their lack of upgrading captains. 15 quit, 8 upgrade.

There will be more upgrades soon.

I think they are trying to stay slightly fat on F/Os in case we have to ramp up for something. Not implying anything, but we all know they are trying for some more flying. If we got something and got behind the curve with pilots it would not be good.

I don't know much about the current attrition, but I did just talk to PP and he said they are currently upgrading about a half dozen per month.

Getting closer.....

6/month still puts me over 2 years from upgrade, and I've been here over a year. Ouch. Where are you guys?

We are definitely fat on FO's. I never flew once on my long call days which = ZERO open time. When I first got here there was open time out the wazoo.

Last I heard they are already doling out LC trips for the middle of November for FOs in both PHL & DCA.

With steady attrition at 12 CAs/mo, I'll be at the current junior CA in about 23-25 months. With the number of people I've heard about getting calls at UPS/CAL/SWA/Frontier recently, that number is only likely to increase IMO.

Drops are being approved next to never these days because of 'maintain RSV coverage' yet there is no opentime and LCs are either killed all mount or not used at all. Weird...

I will be upgrading sooner I guess. I am about 30-40 spots away. But upgrades will increase. I am confident of that.

I am in ORF and bidding top 10. But if you guys are in ORF you will move up one soon. I am bidding back to DCA.

I am confident that the 6/month upgrades will increase slightly. Don't worry about the eternal upgrade. Things will change. When I started here it was about 3 years. Slowed down a bit then really picked up. I just flew with a guy who was awarded upgrade at 2.5 years. I am right now at 2.5 years and am getting close.

I think 3 years will be about right. Guys and gals are getting picked up on a regular basis by 'real' airlines like SWA, CAL, FedEx, UPS, etc.

You really don't want to do that. DC is expensive, and you have to walk to the trailer park ('da world) in bad weather & wind, and the schedules suck terribly, and all the parings do LGA turns. Did I mention DCA crews always fly the ex-Midway airplanes and the river visual is waaaaaaaaay too much work.

Trust me. I'm only looking out for you...
