SkW
Anyone interviewed with SKW recently? I heard they are hurting for pilots and hiring like mad.. any truth to that? Also, for those who have submitted resumes, how long before you heard anything back? I used their online app about a month ago and haven't heard anything yet.. (1100TT 200ME)

Go to a group interview. The upcoming ones are PDX on 11/14 and Cincinati on 11/16. I had a interview scheduled this week but they are not going to do the SLC personal interviews for atleast a couple weeks. The reason (to what I have heard) is they are so backed up on sim and IOE. I got in emailing Cammelle and saying that XYZ (skywest pilot) wanted me to email my resume to her. That speeded things up. Before you accept a interview date know your jepps, systems, fly a sim, ATP and mech. Good luck.

I can say almost for certain that the reason they've slowed a little is because I've been sitting on my butt waiting for IOE trips for about 4 or 5 weeks now in chicago, and I still have a week to go til my next 4 day. Also I believe we are having some turnover in our training dept at the moment. But yes we are hiring like mad still, in fact I recently got a company email from our recruiter telling us to get any of our friends to our upcoming group interview sessions. She also hinted that the upgrade would be pretty quick for those with our capt mins. (2500 total, 1000 in crew) So yea, go to a group interview.

Well to be honest, as much as I want the job, I can't afford to fly out to the west coast just to attend their career fair in hopes of an interview. I do have an insider that is going to walk my resume in... so hopefully that will do the trick. Thanks for the insight everyone

Hey amos,
Have your pal on the inside set you up with buddy tickets out to the group interview. That's what I did. Its great cause you get to fly on Skywest and meet some of the people you will hopefully work with in the future. Flying with them really made up my mind about them.
So I'm gonna be back for round two coming up in march. I tell you practice the sim and study the atp. Those were the areas I think I did worst in and why I was not offered the job. But now I have been studying for a month and have 5 left with which to make myself perfect.

Well if you would've started a month ago, Chicago was easily the most junior base, but they've been doing some recruiting out here, lots of Mesa/TSA/Eagle pilots coming over, so ORD is a little more popular. I just looked at the standing bids for F/O's to transfer into chicago and there are 13 bids to get in. Amazingly 12 of those are junior to me, and I've only been here since August. In my class 13 people wanted wanted ORD. 9 people got it right away, the other 4 got it before they were done with training. But back then there was only one standing bid to get in. Now there's 13, so you MIGHT have to wait a couple months to get it. The base you get out off training is kinda funny, because a few months ago the most senior person in our class bid SLC and couldn't get it. Now it seems like everyone they hire is getting SLC. So who knows. If you want ORD, DEN, SLC, FAT, or COS they are all going relatively junior. Again, you might wait a month or two, but it shouldn't be too bad.
