MunkyButtr,
I'm not talking about this past Jan/Feb, I'm referring to last year, before the whole SLI process, and before the old airlinkpilots website shut down. My best guess estimate is around Jan-March of 2011. That's when I got the message on the old airlinkpilots about "being confirmed by a moderator friend that you are shyguy on APC." One website administrator on the old airlinkpilots was in cohorts with the union to try and rat out the "problem" childs. You know, the ones who were calling them out on their BS. Apparently, their mantra was "sit down, be quiet, you don't know what's good for you, and we'll let you know when we've decided what's good for you." I mean, can you believe we at 9E didn't even know what our own merger group proposed until AFTER the Colgan MEC leaked the proposals online? That's the kinda BS I'm talking about.

A horrible airline that abused its workers, dragged down the industry, undercut attempts by others to make things better for us, served as an example for outsourcing to the lowest bidder, and had a pilot training/selection process/scheduling/work environment that was so screwed up that dozens of innocent people are dead?
Yes. I smile at them going out of business.

I smile each time I hear an rj fo that has this industry "pegged." One that's better than because when he does his walk around, his gelled hair is shielded from the rain by those jet engines. One that shells out dirty looks while on the commute and wears his uniform out on the town. A bunch of people lose their jobs, some of those people fought hard to raise the bar, people that had nothing to do with the tragic loss of lives that you so casually throw around. Insensitivity and naivety must be a requirement for employment now. Sit down, take off your silver aviators and have some empathy for those good guys less fortunate, someday you may find yourself in the same situation.

Colgan treated it's employees like garbage for years, they cut every corner that they could, and every time it bit them in the ass they threw thier employees under the bus. It sucks that people are losing their jobs but it was a small airline that should have stayed a small airline. Don't defend a company like that. Liking the people you work with is fine but your management and companies lack of ethics deserves to be run out of business. The quick upgrades and constant movement was for a good reason.
