Google #pacificwings. You'll find pictures of the photo shoot for the mile high club. Couldn't figure out how to insert a pic. Don't know how flying sex charters looks on a resume...

I don't understand the Caravan hypnosis some people have.
Honest question; what does Caravan time do for a person that instructing or piston 135 won't do?

Get you to a regional? No difference. Get you on at Fed Ex (et. al.)? No. Get you on at another gig that prefers Caravan experience? Sure.

Every person I have flown caravans with have gotten on at regionals. Lots of them with less than 30 hours of multi. Even though it's single engine time it is turbine time. That does look good. I have witnessed it firsthand.

Right. I don't knock the Van itself, and there are some *good* 135 operators out there.

Buuut I know plenty of people, myself included, who had only piston time before getting on at the regionals. Some had a very little multi time as well.

So what good was the Van time, especially when weighed against what a shady operator PW is?

Oops I misunderstood what you were saying.

Is it worth getting turbine time at a place like that? I guess that is up to each individual. Atleast I know a bad outfit when I see one now. I'm on a 135 operator now that treats us so much better.

All I know is when you move on from PW you get a huge reality check on how much better it can get :D

Believe me, I don't have ill will towards you, I just honestly get perplexed at going someplace with such a baaaad reputation. Glad you made it out of there alright.

As I told someone else,

"I don't begrudge people for getting Van time, but I'm concerned folks get pretty worked up over it (turbine PIC), and go to Pacific Wings, a company who is seemingly abusing their work force. As I said on the forum, I'm not sure going to Pacific Wings is a good career or life move based on how management operates them."

Cheers

Might get him into a corporate or charter job that has pc-12s, meridians, tbms, with a company that also has jets that he could move on to being an FO on.

I'd rather be a pilot who has 100+ recent hours in a Baron, piston Navajo or Cessna 404/414/421 than someone with 500 hours in the Van. I know at SkyWest if you have less than 100 hours in MEs and 1000+ hours in PC12s or Caravans you will not get an interview, but if you have 100+ ME and no Van or PC12 time you will (assuming they meet the rest of the ATP mins). Even 6 years ago 100 ME trumped 1000 SE Turbine. Bottom line, piston multi means more than Turbine Single. Now if you have two pilots with the equal credentials and 100 ME hours but one also has 1000 hours of SE Turbine Van/12 time then the Van/12 driver should get the call first.

Regardless PW is an ignorant SPS pilots trap.

(SPS = Shiney Plane Syndrome)

Some people are bound to read these threads and still take the job. After all, that's what I did. I assumed that it must have been a bunch of inaccurate information because I wanted to rationalize accepting my first "real pilot" job. Boy oh boy was I wrong.

After working there I would never let my family fly on them. Ever.

It is a horrible and risky place to work. There is a reason that they are known for being the lowest of the low in the industry. If you are considering going to PW do everything you can to avoid it. Don't be like me and ignore the advice. Otherwise you can't say we didn't warn you.

I had originally posted a long list of reasons and situations. I will be filing a lawsuit against them soon and don't want to create any additional issues, so I have removed them. If you want specifics Please PM me and I'll give you a rundown.
