The article tries to make a point that longevity equals experience, which we all know isn't quite the whole story
I would guess the average new hire at Go-Jets is on their second airline.
I know that is the case at Compass. Mostly ex-regional guys and they have had the 1500hr requirement for some time.
Hell, Go-jets requires 4500hrs to be a street CA. Mesaba at one point was upgrading people right at 1500hrs and hiring street CA's. I think we can all agree they are/were a very safe regional.
I would argue the working conditions are the problem, low pay and long duty days. We are forced to work as much as possible to provide for ourselves and leads to burnout and complacency. This problem is pretty universal amongst regionals.
