CRJ...

I think they used to have a limitations/memory items test on day one of systems, but they stopped doing that. I suppose it's possible the re-instituted it, but it was a very easy test anyway. There are only a handful of memory items.

This may be silly asking you this, as I know how you feel about Mesa and sometimes enjoy teasing you about your bashing them. BUT- if you were an FO with just under a year at Mesa, 550TT and 250 on the ERJ, and were looking for a better quality of life, would you bail from Mesa and go to SkyWest if given the opportunity? For a bit more perspective, I'm in MCO on reserve. Live in DFW area. 8 days off per month isn't much when you have a wife and two boys. How many days off do you get on reserve for SkyWest? And are they likely to put someone with jet experience on the CRJ? Frankly, I wouldn't want to move to a turboprop. Any advice you have would be appreciated.

I was a 2+ year captain upgrade when I left. Best decision I ever made.

I am definitely a western person, so mesa's easterly migration out of DEN and PHX was a large factor in my decision. But there were also a a lot of other great reasons to escape mesa, I don't really see any good things in their immediate future what with code-share dissatisfaction and labor strife.

Minimum ten days off per month, but there isn't much reserve with the current growth. They treat people VERY well, they go out of their way to do so (I was pretty surprised at how serious they are about being nice to you, even though I had some idea before I came). If you need a day off for some important family thing, the CP will make it happen even if PBS or CT doesn't.

Previous airline people seem to all go to the jet, so you could assume that.

If you are considering it, try to get your hours up to 1000 asap, there is a LOT of hiring going on for the next 12 months or more and the sooner you get on, the more folks are going to be below you. Apparently they lowered their mins to 850 for ATP graduates, so you might want to apply now anyway...with 121 experience they might take you with less than 1000, who knows...

The white shirt and black tie on day one is for your badge photo. I wore Hawaiin shirts after that.

You will probably be randomly assigned a roomie, but if there's a compatability issue, speak up early. They understand that sort of thing. We had a guy who couldn't stay awake in class...turned out his roomate snored like a mo-fo. Once they figured out what was up they just put him in a different room.

How many people have been showing up at the group interviews. They have not rescheduled my interview since the 2nd so I am going to PDX. Is anyone else? Is it still just HR or can we also do the writtens? Thanks.

Hey rick,
What's the chances of getting hired after they didn't hire me last time? I have a couple more months before I can reapply. I meet the minimums but still didn't get the job. what would me best option be?

Pretty good...unlike some companies they will interview you again after the 6 months. They seem to like persistence...a large percentage of the old-timers interviewed more than once before they got hired.

Get in touch with them a few weeks prior to 6 months so as to get the earliest date you can. Obviously bone up on your weak spots from the last interview...
