Jumpseated back from LHR on UAL at the beginning of Sept. To list for the jumpseat I paid $154 compared to $178 to list for a normal seat on Flyingtogether.

C-money...I thought it was 128 last time I went a year ago...

It's getting more and more expensive to get good fish and chips these days!

I seem to remember if you list in business or first vs coach, London charges you more taxes to list in business and first.

I'll second Atlas if they have a flight that works. No stressing about getting a seat, they feed you well and its a guaranteed first class seat instead of a middle coach seat. When I did it they even offered me a bunk if I wanted it. Just search for their phone number and give them a call. Their online website listing in confusing since they ask for a flight number but you can't search their flights. I'd recommend jut calling them.

Anybody know if taxes paid for international jump seating are refundable if you don't get on? Didn't get on a Delta flight out of AMS recently.

Thanks

If you originate in another country and connect in LHR to USA have them list you as a through passenger. Then you wont have the high taxes. Good luck.

Take the train to AMS, spend a day there because its a neat place that can be seen without straying too far from the airport and the taxes are only $50 round trip so it should only cost you $25. Apply the cost saving to your train ticket and you basically get a bonus city to see and the loads are usually far better out of AMS. Just went a few weeks ago on United 65 open seats on the way there 45 open on the way back!

I concur with Mbur. I haven't done it, but I know plenty who have gotten around the LHR taxes via AMS.

Personally id take the train to lgw, man, or bhm... The eurostar train or ams or paris (also cheap jumpseat tax) is fairly expensive in itself. 200 euro one way.

They upped the price, broski. They're getting greedy. Ain't that the truth.

I'm pressed for time is my problem and there's people I'm seeing in and around London. I might try the Manchester trick though, we'll see. I'll report back with my results.
