It appears about 27% of the present electorate is in denial.

Delta is a female dog with a litter to feed. Pinnacle is currently the runt. Only so much milk to go around. If Delta decides to stop letting Pinnacle suck her teets, then the runt dies.
|
Shut down will be over 18-24 months, anything less would not be feasible or cost effective for Delta. FO's and ambitious CA's will have plenty of time to bail, lifers and pilots with skeletons in the closet are in for a world of hurt and poverty.

I don't work there (though I am a former regional puke) but:
This is a dick thread. I thought with the decade of stagnation that commuter guys weren't still mostly in their 20's. Guess I was wrong. If it does happen, do you guys want to look back on this and say "I was right!" or "damn I was off by 6 months"? Its just bad manners. And stupid. May as well also start these polls: When will Southwest take concessions? When will FedEx get UAVs? When will UPS close its air division? When will Great Lakes cease operation? Dumb. |

I just think it's dumb, bro.
I flew for an airline that went CH7 (ATA). And it kind of sucks knowing there is a likelihood you're going to lose your job and have to take a lower paying one. Or unemployment. People posting polls about "Hey! How long before your airline doesn't exist anymore" is just gay. It sounds almost gleeful. Maybe the OP actually flies for Pinnacle and not a competing regional. And isn't not so secretly glad his competing regional might be getting more planes. Or maybe he doesn't, and is. It's still simply a **** thread. And I felt like expressing it. Anyway, I guess the commuters are still full of 24 year olds. I wouldn't have had a problem with this thread back then. Carry on with your poll |

Whatever dude.
Still in bad taste to start a-chomping-at-the-bit thread about when another commuter/"regional"/NATIONAL/even MAJOR (Hey, when I flew at Skywest we were a "major" according to some revenue accounting system.....) airline tanks and good people have to look for likely lower paying jobs than they already had. Anyone who goes to work for that outfit is already more than likely inundated with conversation topics, often gloomy, that he/she doesn't feel like engaging in. And yet might have to spend 10+ legs with some dip**** that does. And then has to hear about about "a poll on APC says most people think we have 6 months left! What are you going to do? I have a buddy at Emirates/Cathay/Etihad/FedEx/UPS/Southwest/a Blue Dart at JBLU blah blah..." I think most dudes currently flying for Pinnacle have as realistic an idea that is possible about what could/may/can't/likely happen. Which is to say "None, whatsoever." But they're taking their own measures. No need to rub **** in with this poll while you at XYZ airline hope they close so your upgrade speeds up.... Anyway, just think you should close this thread. You 24 year old ******s. Ahh, well, I sat on it a while and decided, Ive said my piece. I dont work there but my old U of I roomie and still good friend to this day still does (was on the Mesaba side before the merge). So I was kind of thinking of his reaction to this **** if he'd read it. Thankfully, he doesn't Closed down FI along time ago and never even opened up an APC account. Whatever, you guys get jobs where you can. Later dudes. |
Thanks for that "alternative" view.
There are Captains here at Pinnacle applying for first officer jobs at other regionals to beat the rush when it shuts down. Just trying to get a pulse of how realistic this is. It's hard to read management letters saying they are either going to "shrink" or "wind-down the operation.". It's already shrunk a good 800 pilots so far. |

My personal guess is that it will sharply follow a mirror image of ComAir's path.
The timeline is Delta's. The price of gas and 717s are my only data points. |
