If you were at Colgan for ALMOST a year and just completed your ride with XJT I seriously doubt you have more 121 time. Just because I'm right seat doesn't mean I started yesterday. I haven't worked a weekend in 5+ months and I hold every holiday off plus what ever else I want. I average 15 days off per month. 11 days for Thanksgiving starting on Wed. and 7 for X-Mas plus over 90 hours of pay for each of the two months. Do you really think that a new hire can hold this? GET REAL. I’m in the top 100 on the Bro seniority list and upgrade is right around the corner. But I’m sure you have no clue what that feels like. Have fun riding the pine on reserve and think of me during the holidays.

And for the others, GOOD LUCK ALL! I'm not as arrogant as I sound I'm just sick of SAAB. I’m a 2nd generation airline pilot, I’ve been through the S@#T with my father and when I was junior. There is no other career for me and I hope that you feel the same. We’re all lucky; we get to live life 3 dimensionally.

To try to shed a little light on a question posted earlier about XJT upgrade times...

Nearly all of the captains upgraded in the last couple of upgrade classes have been with the company for between 2 and 2 1/2 years. That seems to be the average longevity for new captains.

I'm still a relatively junior FO at XJT and I must say I'm not all that comfortable at the moment with the situation being the way it is with our jets and finding work for them. However, from speaking to many people from the company in the know, there are many viable options on the table, and, as has been said before, it makes no business sense at all for XJT to be hiring 64 pilots a month if they were just planning on mass furloughs. I'm sure we'll get it all worked out.

This is the only aspect of life at XJT which is causing problems for us. Everything else about the company is awesome - pay, QOL, upgrade time are all excellent. I'm really enjoying being here so far.

The pay rates look nearly identical (except SKYW's ridiculous first year pay). But take into account that Skywest pilots are flying 70-90 seaters for what those of us at XJT are flying 50 seaters for. Thats when the wheels come off the wagon. Go compare other 70-90 seat rates to Skywest's then you will see a difference. Just to give you something to compare, I am on pace to make $25K my first year here at XJT. Not stellar but could be worse. If I go do the corporate thing, min guarantee is $56K for a 2nd year FO. ($52/hr x 90 hr guarantee x 12 months)

My father pasted a few years ago. But you didn't know that and the fact that I have many contacts throughout the industry, because of him, doesn't make me any better of a pilot. Happy Thanksgiving and good luck at XJT.

Ask a handful of mainline pilots the next time your jumpseating if airlines would do this. To save you time, the answer is a resounding yes. Good Luck
