For those interested in the facts instead of 9CJ and her quirks. Good friend works there and Pentastar is top notch. Great people and they take care of their pilots.
But if you want to slug it out flying a shiny jet, by all means. thats only in da mounin' |

I've worked for Pentastar in the past. Class act company, great place to work. I'd still be there if my customer still needed their plane. If you wanna know what 9CJ really does, look it up on flight aware. That thing flies all the time.

Pentastar is a good company but what happens if this little business ordeal with the Saab goes tango uniform can you go to another airframe? Flight aware doesn't show it flying much. Looks like it averages a trip a day I applied but I doubt they will call when they see what my salary expectations were.

You mean what happens when this industry cannot make any Guarantees? We Call that life son. Whoooo whoooo |
Keep in mind this isn't an airline, it's a charter gig. I you wanna fly 6+ hours a day and build time quickly, this isn't your job. A charter plane that does a trip a day IS pretty busy. Put it in perspective.. If you were applying for a job flying a Citation or a Lear and it flew "pretty much a trip a day" you'd probably consider that a pretty busy charter schedule. It's easy to lose sight of that since this job is flying a Saab and you likely associate it with regional airline flying.
If you're working for Pentastar and your job disappears for some reason, you can apply for any open position on an internal basis, otherwise you get furloughed just like any other flying job. That's what happened to me and I had another job in less than two weeks. I don't know what the pay is for this position, but from what I've heard it's not a high paying job. Also, something to keep in mind.. Pentastar uses the senior pilot as the PIC, regardless of who is sitting in what seat and performing what duties. If you are the senior pilot, you will sign for the plane. If you are the junior pilot, you will sign the flight log as the SIC. Period. It's very clearly stated in the GOM. I only mention it because I didn't know that when I was hired. |
Mesaba/Colgan Saab pilots...
I understand its a charter company but if you're going to compare how many hours it flies compared to Lears and Citations lets take a look at compensation. As for being out of a job the risk would be worth it if they pay a solid wage but it doesn't appear to be that way.

I think in the past they were offering 60,000 for pic and 35,000 for sic. Not sure what your expectations are.
