Quote: I didn't think you could be in CASS until after your checkride. How would that work with an instructor?
Pretty sure we were in CASS within a week or so of starting class at Eagle.

Oops the background check, my mistake. If the instructors get CASS and get the opportunity to ride up front it will keep them focused, seeing the end game.

Or it may spook them so badly, they might rethink going to ANY regional.

I HIGHLY doubt any CFI will have CASS access. They will be riding in the back..

The CFI's are under a work group called Pipeline Instructor. They do not have CASS privileges as they are not 121 pilots yet. When they reach ATP mins and move work groups to AE pilot, then they will have CASS access. Relax.

They do have the same travel privileges as any other AMR employee (i.e. D2's, D1's) but do not have jump seat access.

Personally I think it is great they are trying so hard to get people on. The recruiter I talked to today said the response has been huge.

Why doesn't anyone else ever just call the recruiting department and ask these questions instead of constant speculation on the internet? They are always really open with me when I call.

They should not have CASS until they have been trained on sterile cockpit procedures, CRM, cockpit security etc.

I can imagine the conversation from the jump seat.
"What is that button for? What happens if I pull this red handle? Can I have a go at flying it? Where is the Carb heat? Why didn't you do a mag check before we took off."

Just kidding.

Think of the passengers, haha.

FO "I'm a First Officer"
Px "Oh, so you're not really a pilot then..."

CFI "I'm a Flight Instructor"
Px "Wow! You teach the pilots how to fly!"

Oh god, that would be absolutely priceless. I'd play along with that! I should go instruct.
