Default West coast vs. East Coast?

Help a newbie understand this.

Why sooo many regionals split East Coast while Skywest dominates the West(seems to me anyways)???

Applying at few regionals now and it seems all of them are East coast. XJet, Eagle, Awac, Compass etc. I would like to stay at West if at all possible but there are only two that "I" can think of, Horizon and Skywest and neither are hiring.

I would like to stay West if at all possible. Any other rigonals based at West that I can't think of?

Thanks!

Maybe this population map can explain...
And maybe not the coast but still considered the west, but Mesa and Great Lakes have bases in the west. Pick your poison wisely.

Well most of the population is on the east coast, so that's the why.

Unfortunately, your west coast options are limited. As far as regionals go, SKW may be worth waiting for. Eagle, Republic and Pinnacle aren't exactly places you may want to be right now. XJT/ASA is kinda up in the air...

Whatever regional you get hired with, especially on the Delta side, Delta will eat you up, digest you, and poop you out in a completely whack section of the country. If you had told me 5 years ago that Comair would be flying MEM-FYV, Pinnacle would fly CVG-FLL, and ASA would have more flights out of MEM than Pinnacle, I would have said puff puff give because you are obviously smoking something...

All my families and reletives are here in California so I would like to end up in here soon or later. Skywest would have been perfect but they are not hiring and from what some says, it may be next year...but I donno...

So it would be to continue CFIing and waiting till Skywest hires or get on with one of the regionals hiring NOW. How many of you would wait for Skywest in my situation?

Commuting sucks. Apply where you can have a decent QOL (as decent as you can get at a POS regional).

Driving to work and having the ability to eat something other than Ramen is nice.

Tough choice. In my opinion, living in base is the single biggest factor when determining your QOL.

Good luck with your choice.
