I would think you'd be marketable outside the regional world.

Except for all the 10 year RJ Captains vying for the same jobs in 121... 4000 Hrs' is still RJ FO at some of the larger regionals like AE.. Heck at Comair most FO's were pushing 10 yrs and 8000+TT

If you want to stay in Santa Fe, I would try SkyWest, Republic, or Eagle. Since you don't seem to need any turbine time, I would stay away from places like Great Lakes and go to an outfit that can provide you with a good commute/QOL.

Republic out of SAF? Are you nuts?

If you don't mind my asking, why on earth would you recommend a company that wants everybody based at uncommutable outstation bases in the NE US to a commuter from SAF?

I've been offered an interview at republic for the Q. I may puke.

on the other hand, I'm flying to salt lake to for an interview as a systems engineer. sitting behind a desk again, I may puke.

I'm afraid if I step away from flying for a couple years, it's going to be difficult for me to get back in.

Thought about 135 in Alaska? Hageland (Era's 135 side) is 2 weeks on 2 weeks off. People commute from all over the country.

I've had a resume up there for some time now. No calls.

I'm here in Salt Lake for my interview at Overstock.com as a systems engineer. If they offer, I think I'll take it. I spent some time going over Republic and at 1500/mo after taxes and who knows when/if an upgrade will happen, I dont think it will be a wise decision.

I'm running out of cash and I have to fish or cut bait before my savings is to the point where I wont have enough to leave santa fe for a new job.

This is pretty much going to be the case at just about any regional. At this point in my life, I cant take the chance of another furlough, or another company failing, or another whatever that resets me back to the starting gate, and without significant time in anything other than Learjets, I think my options are too limited at this stage of the game.

I'm going to go to sleep now before I throw something at the wall. :(

(

Typically one needs to hand deliver one's resume to the Alaska 135 outfits. Emailed and snail mailed resumes don't seem to get much attention. Often the chief pilot will spend some time with you if you call ahead.

With few exceptions, regardless of one's experience, new hires at Era start in the sled for some seasoning (duration varies), then move the the Caravan, then the Navajo, then you jump over to the 121 side to fly the B1900 or the Dash 8. Most openings are filled by internal candidates, so there aren't many opportunities to enter directly into the B1900 or the Dash 8.

Before you put a hole in that hotel room, Med Flight out of ABQ were advertising for a LRJET C/A a few days ago. You been down there to ambush them yet?

scubabri 06-15-2013 09:14 AM
