So where will it hurt the least right now?
Sooooo I am thinking about returning to the industry after being stuck in an office since Comair shutdown. Hating the office life again and the construction industry is about the same as the regionals! Full of low bidders! I have been reading through various threads trying to get a handle on the regional industry since Comair shutdown.
So where would it hurt the least right now? My take is the regional industry is even more screwed up nowadays. I should probably have my head examined for wanting to go through with this again. Pretty much seen everything after 6 years at Comair. The other question is currency. Mine ran out in December and I refuse to pay for 3 landings in a light twin. Waste of money. Are most of the regionals worried about that? I am at 4100TT and 3000 turbine and an ATP. So I pretty much have all the mins. Obviously not UsAir material since my last initial was 6 years ago! |
Maybe ask people a list of places not to go and see which gets named least? That'll get more responses...
So what are you more interested in? A good domicile? Fast upgrade? Chasing flight time? Sign on bonus? First year pay? Plenty of variables that should affect your decision... |
Nothing has changes since comair shut down, its still a race to the bottom. Pick your poison. Just dont follow suit like a lot of your fellow Comair comrads and go to GoJets.

To answer the title of the thread; at this point, I think a swift kick to the nuts would hurt the least right now.

How about this. Get yourself current, then get some part time job flying something around just to stay current (CFI, 135 freight, medical samples, etc), keep your daytime office job, and apply to United or US Air.

This above advice will keep you at your current office job. After 6 years, im sure you are aware that your current times are not competitive for USAir or UA, unless you have an in. Go to the one with the best work rules. The one with the best rules might go down like Comair, but at least working 121 while applying to the Legacies and LCC, granted that this is your ultimate objective. Network while you are at your new job, because many of these pilots will be moving on to as one guy put it "The land of rainbows and unicorns," that is the Majors.
