I have done the double occupancy thing a few times now and am happy that they at least give the option for a single. It is definitely doable but is much better if paired with someone with good manners you get along with. I have been fortunate in my training events thus far for that to be the case.
As far as dangerous... guys, consider what you are getting into. Its a part of airline life unless you can commit to moving to a domicile or renting a room/apartment there of your own. If you wind up renting a cheap spot in a commuter crashpad you're looking at a whole other level of people you don't know under the same roof. Really its not bad in a training environment, just be super courteous and considerate.

I have to admit, I don't like the double occupancy deal and if I ever get a say in it, I will vote against it. When I did it, I was very, very fortunate that my roommate was a very courteous and overall cool person. We are good friends to this day. But it could EASILY have not been the case.
The one argument I've heard in favor of double occupancy is that you have somebody to study with. That's true, but when I transitioned to the CRJ I was single occupancy (you will NEVER again be D/O after this first training event), and I was able to study just fine with others. Quite honestly, I prefer to primarily study by myself anyway!

The last time I applied to SKW was in 1992. I am long past any disappointment at this point in my career. Besides,I am very happy right where I am.
I was just pointing out that I think its a potential safety issue to share a room with a stranger.

Why? Just about every college in the world forces people to share rooms with strangers. It's not a new concept. I had no problem with the double occupancy. With what the regionals pay first year I can't believe there are people giving up $700 just so they won't have a room mate.

Your missing the point. In my days of youth I shared rooms many times. University, camp etc. Now that I am in my forties. I prefer to skip the room sharing.
When the day comes that a person is attacked by their shared room roommate. Then you will all be singing a different tune.
To the original poster. Congratulations on getting hired.
