Default Question

Hey folks,
I was wondering how one responds to an offer after an interview when you have other interviews set up for future dates. Do you need to give them an answer if they make you an offer? (meaning: yes or no...can you think about it) Is it okay to disclose that you have future interviews with other airlines? I see many others here describe their experience and many of them have interviewed with multiple regionals and are now deciding where to go. I wasn't sure how to respond to an offer when you have other interviews pending. Thanks in advance!

Here's how I did it a number of years ago..

Interviewed at Commutair, got job on spot, no class date, accepted.
Interviewed at ASA, job offered with class date 3 months away. Accepted over phone.
Interviewed at Air whiskey. No offer at interview. Called the week after, offered job, no class.. Accepted. 2 weeks later, offered class and accepted..

Called Commutair chief pilot and told him thank you for opportunity but that I was exploring another option.. Called Karl Baxter at Asa, thanked him for all he had done for me (interviewed a 19 year old despite age 21 minimum) and told him whiskey offered a sooner date. He's a great guy if you're gonna go XJT by the way.. He was cool and wished me well at whiskey..

And here we are today.. Accept every offer you get but keep in contact with the people doing the offering. I was lucky that hiring at the time wasn't moving really fast, so I was able to have time between interview and class. But, trust me, these guys know candidates are interviewing multiple places.

With the current market demand is not uncommon for a pilot to have other interviews scheduled. You are interviewing for a possible position with said company and you don't have to disclose that you are also looking at other carriers. If offered a "conditional" job accept it as you don't know the other interviews will go. The regionals know that you are looking at other carriers, if asked it's ok to let them know that you are in contact with other possible employers.

As far as the offer, they give ou a conditional offer and can decline employment after the initial offer. Interview and always accept the offer, if something better for you and your situation arrasises then you can always writte a professional letter on why you decided on employment elsewhere. I did this with EXJ from a few years ago and when I updated my airline apps for United and Delta they both sent me an invitation to re-interview.

Interview in all and pick the one that best unit you.

Thanks for the replies and advice. I will indeed accept any offers given and will continue to keep my options open in case something else better suits my situation. Thanks again!

Agree. You are the commodity. I have never had an employer or possible employer give me a hard time for being honest and doing what's best for me.

I'd be honest with them, with one caveat. Your current interview is where you want to work.

The others were set up as backups in case you didn't get an interview or something like that. They'll understand if you say you're interviewing other places, they'll be much more hesitant if they think you will leave halfway through ground-school for one of them.

Come up with a rock solid reason why this airline is your clear #1 choice.

Agreed...and when you do let the others down, realize that that offer hasn't gone away. Don't let the bridge get burned...

Sweet, so you are saying I still have the opportunity to dump this Endeavor for Comair?
