Agreed jet Pic is ultimate , but I don't think that was really your question.. Overall PIC is king , but jet time is considered to many now a days to be king , even if its in a RJ, JetBlue is big on jet , sure some get on with out it , but it's a small percentage .
I have friends with thousands of hours of Pic in a Saab or BE1900 and a degree but Zero jet time and they aren't getting much love from any big players , of course times ahead will change but today's current market you have thousands of jet RJ captains to choose from .

I think Jet TPIC is king, but TPIC is ALWAYS better than ANY SIC time. I do find it funny though, because the most difficult flying that I've ever done is the turboprop flying. In a turboprop you're in the weather more and closer to the terrain. The jet flying that I've done is much easier compared to the turboprop flying that I have done in the past. The jet that I fly is really designed so that 500 hour, third world trained pilots don't hurt themselves. The turboprops could hurt you easily, if you weren't paying attention. Especially the Q400.

I know. I was on the -200 only without any -900 time and received an email inviting me to the EK one day assessment in ATL. They later followed up with a form that broke up flight time with jets greater than 30 tons and less than 30 tons. Based on that, they took back their offer for interview because all my time was under 30 tons.

A good airline can train you regardless of your jet or TP time. I find all these artificial obstacles irritating. Having flown everything from a twin otter to a 747. I discovered a good aviator will meet the challenge. I suppose it's the difficulty in proving that you can do it before your hired. No company wants to waste $$.
That said, I was told the tail dragger was to hard, then it was the Beach -18 was to tricky then it was watch out for the TP and again the jet gotchas. Never had a problem and I just applied myself to each challenge. So far after 24 years not a issue. I believe the true skill involves being a aviator and not a shiny jet pursuer. It's unfortunate that the hiring boards lack the judgement to see the difference.
My advice, do what works for you and climb the latter. Each step is a notch in your experience belt. Sometimes you don't appreciate or are frustrated by your step. But believe me it makes for a more fulfilling career.

How's the transition training from a turboprop to a jet? Are jets easier or harder than T-props. I assume with the lack of automation in a prop, jets are harder in this aspect.
