Great RJ picture

Makes me grin from ear to ear! Hopefully we'll see many more like this in the future, with even more aircraft!

They are many more ASA-inged to join that picture, I am not SURE-yet on how many will be ASA-inged or how many will ENDEAVOR on this journey.

Sorry, please excuse my gross ignorance when I ask, but why is the parking of any aircraft in such large numbers a good thing? and why is would this make you happy? Also, are these all Pinnacle airframes?

Again, sorry for my ignorance, but this is a genuine question from a 1,200 hr CFI.

We want the bulk of flying at mainline, not the Regionals. That is the gist of it. Let me know if you would like me to elaborate.

There are X number of passengers out there to be flown by Y number of pilots. The less RJs there are to fly these passengers means they have to fly on something else, and hopefully thats mainline.

In other words, being an RJ pilot is a low paying job that isn't a career. Its a job that our industry needs to eliminate. Eliminating the jets is a key part to that.

Gotcha. Point understood and well taken. Thanks.

the last two post and first one of this thread are made by wannabe's. those aircraft are just being replaced by larger rj's. and the statement made "being an RJ pilot is a low paying job that isn't a career" watch out for these pilot types, they are called back stabbers or management stooges.

These aircraft are being replaced by 717s and some larger RJs. Saying they are just being replaced by larger RJs is not knowing your subject matter.

Exactly, sweet, replacing little RJ's with bigger RJ's. The pilots on the new 900's will still make pitiful wages. How many pilots has Delta hired since those planes have been parked (or as a result of those planes being parked)? The 100 seaters are also right around the corner. Wouldn't it be better if instead of seeing airplanes get parked and pilots lose their job we had mainline actually take back flying, as in make anything with more than 50 seats a Mainline plane?

Yeah, sure, how many pilots have you hired since those planes were parked?

You should have a little more respect for the pilots in your own Union that work hard to keep your passengers happy and subsidize your wages.

How many large RJs have we taken delivery of since those planes were parked?

None on both counts. Now a more significant parking of them is coming , and we're a few weeks away from the first recall class. First new bodies in January for a total of likely around 500 new bodies over the next year. And that's just the beginning...

The 50 seaters are being replaced by 76 seaters and the pilots are going to be told to fly them for the same pay rate or to take paycuts. I have no idea how you consider that a step in the right direction. At this rate we'll be flying 737s for $30/hour pretty soon.

Try and keep up... a significant portion of those 50 seaters capacity are being replaced by 717s... and redeployed A319s. I've seen a lot of CRW, BMI, DSM, MLI, FAY and various other formerly all RJ cities this year. Some 76 seaters will replace them, but 88 717s is a major portion of that.

The truth is.... these would be sitting in that picture regardless. You allowed the increase in the number of larger RJ's to replace a product already headed to the desert. Seems like your management is the one that truly knows the subject matter.

Because the less RJs there are and hopefully they don't grow in size... The more passengers mainline will fly. Delta is taking about 12% of the regional flying and placing it on the mainline over the next 2 years. United is shrinking their RJ fleet and American it's still up in he air.

Ask someone who just got lifeflighted to the hospital, had hours of surgery, then spent weeks recovering in the hospital, if they wish they had health insurance.

I bring it up because I see it all the time. Something to think about.

Carry on.

First off, please don't take this as condescending or demeaning, but this really shows there is a lack of understanding at the CFI / pre regional level.

I know most of you guys are wrapped up in teaching international students and dreaming about ditching the cessna for a jet, we've all been there. But please take the time to educate yourselves on what is going on at the regionals. Don't listen to the B.S. propaganda your flight school dishes out.

Someone on here took the time to start a stop the whipsaw movement. Another took the time to build a site called "the truth about the profession." The Truth About the Profession - Home

Do your self a favor and do some research. Look at every company closely and weed out the ones that are looking to bring this industry down even further.

Spread the word.

This is a straw-man argument. Three words:

Reduction. Of. Capacity.

It can't go on forever. The management goal is to fill every seat, every time. They will cut until they achieve it. This only breeds the possibility of new competition.

Oh, I know all about the STW movement. I am also very familiar with "The Truth About Profession." I have been watching this industry for quite some time now. Also, PBS's Frontline did a great documentary about the industry after Colgan 3407.

The was really was no context given in the original post w/ the picture. I completely get it, no lack of understanding on my part. However, sadly I can't say the same for the majority of my CFI co-workers.

I recently had a conversation with a co-worker about what regionals he was targeting to get on with. We both know a few people at Commutair, he stated that he really wasn't considering them, instead he wanted to focus on XJET, and RAH because "They have jets". I didn't say anything, but needles to say, I really wanted to say "Dude, ***, really?" It's a shame.

As a CFI w/ 1,200 hrs. I will be the first to admit that I absolutely have SJS. Warming the right seat of a C-172 doing touch n' gos for 6 hrs a day is really starting to wear on me. However, although I do have SJS, I won't let it get the best of me and cloud my judgement. I've made it a point to read up on current contracts, and am keeping a very close on on things now (PSA).

So, all that being said...any advice for me, as I am looking to start job searching for a regional in the next 6 months or so?
