ASA started a new hire class on Monday with the avg flight time at around 455 hrs. Most of the people in the class are ex interns. I flew two guys up from Riddle on Sat, with around 250 hrs ttl time. ASA cannot get anyone with more time. Good thing that I may be outta here.

Yeah, their interns get can hired at 250 and 25. My friend just started without ever having to instruct. Now I'm tempted to apply there.

From the last negotiations sessions alot of progress has been made to get the contract done with more sessions skd form early Jan. From what I have seen and heard mgmnt is very motivated to get this done and fast. Pay increases are in the works and will improve for the CR2 and ATR with current book for the CR7 (more than likely). Also first year pay is likely to increase with trip/duty rigs and other scheduling improvements. Per diem improvements are also in the works, not much but every little bit helps.

After being here for almost 3 years my QOL has been very good. Sat res for only 2 months and have been holding 3 on 4 off for the past 2 years. At present the pay isn't the best, but I am not hurting either. Live within your means and take ATL Ops in stride and you will do just fine.

Good Luck...

121 airline? What the hell is that supposed to mean? Who would apply here not knowing we're a 121 airline?

That said, at 800/'50 or 500/50, we're scraping the bottom of the barrel. This means ASA is now competing with Great Lakes for pilots.

We are competing with every regional that has an open seat. As the majors start to hire the regionals need to get new drivers from somewhere.

How doea ASA's minimums compare with, oh, say, SKYWEST? Ot Republic, or Mesa, or CoEx?

True, we're competing, but clearly we're at a competetive disadvantage if we have to lower our standards that much.

What about upgrade time? It looks as though the most junior captain was hired in 2001, it that correct? How many guys/gals are leaving for SkyWest? How junior is LAX? Do I have to have the ATP written done before applying?
When do benefits start? I have looked over the proposed contract online. If approved it looks like there will be some descent improvements to QOL. How much flying does ASA do for UAL? Is it mostly out of LAX? Just doing some homework before I apply.
