You're going by history ie past indicators. Those 7+yrs upgrade times should and will go down.

At Compass: Dec 2011 hires were awarded June class dates for upgrade into LAX in the vacancy award last week. For the time being, LAX is by far the most junior. It takes about 20 from the bottom in LAX in either seat to hold DTW or MSP

I HIGHLY recommend basing a job decision in this industry based solely on upgrade times... that has worked out wonderfully for everyone.

At the rate we're going the upgrade time is actually increasing. They haven't run an RJ upgrade class with more than 10 people per month this year, and they aren't running any Brasilia upgrades. It's going to take a little more than that for the upgrade time to drop.

The most junior captain at the whole company when I was hired over 2 years ago is still only 20 from the bottom overall for captains.

15 upgrades a month at Mesa. Unconfirmed but reliable source and seems to be accurate.

Normal upgrade time? We are flying E170, 175's and CRJ 900's. The problem isnlt upgrade time, its pay.

What I see is the 2013 and early 2014 classes reaching upgrade at around two years, which could continue with some attrition and growth.

We had 9/11 and an economic downturn surpress growth for a decade. Could upgrade times at all of the regionals go back to "normal" in the coming years?

Ummm, they're running a class of 30 soon

There's been days in ORD with no Captain reserves left according to the guy I flew with the other day, and he was TDY RSV from SLC. I think they're waiting to load up on more FO's so they don't create a shortage in both seats.

With more upgrades planned too. The alternates on that award were Jan 2012 hires. They will get it on the current bid that is open. ( I know you know that, FYI for everyone else)
