You can bet your butt the media would have a field day with any motion to change the language to favor the airlines. It took how long to implement it? I can only imagine how long it would take to amend it. By then, any airline that can't hack it will be out of business anyways.

One day all pilots will wake up from living like zombies under this veil of chronic fatigue and wonder where all those years went. Such a blur when you think about it. Being subject to the lifestyle of pre 117 had to have some long term effects. Just wait for the smoke to clear. It will be nice.

Yeah, I'm with your sentiment mostly....I just think simpler language would have made things much simpler on everyone while still providing a superior level of rest than the old rules.

I've already forgot to sign that "fatigue statement"
Has anyone else? ASAP done.

How are airlines doing this?

Our airline has us each sign via an acars screen.

It's on our release. We got a email a few weeks ago that this

"statement must be signed. If not signed, it's a direct violation of FAR 117.5 (D)"

Not sure of your exact situation but it's very possible that you exceeded 60 hours on duty to get 35 flight hours. If so it's a FAR violation. There are a lot of aspects to the new rule however it's primarily a rest and duty based rule.

So is the FAA violating everyone who's breaking the new rules or is there an unofficial "grace period" where you can screw up, learn your lesson, and move on? Knowing the FAA...I'm kind of afraid to ask

...If it didn't take the entire required rest period for me to figure out I'm legal for my next flight...Yes, 117 is working...
