RAH is sooooo desperate

So if you are the type of guy/gal that gets nervous in the sim on check ride day...... Don't worry, not even a little bit. Gone are the days where you get two chances to pass. They need pilots bad so you will be retrained as many times as needed till you can pass. So have fun with that and 50-60 hrs of IOE.

Salukipilot4590 02-28-2014 11:40 AM

3x the normal IOE?

Nice try. Say what you want about RAH, but their training, including instructors, is second to none. Why is this even a thread? Been drinking????

Let's not exaggerate. While good RAH training is second to plenty.

And Trollest thread start of the day goes to...........

swampfoxviper 02-28-2014 01:09 PM

Aww, guys, look... a troll.

You really think management cares how certain guys do? They need to fill seats. They will make sure it gets done.

scumby 02-28-2014 01:13 PM

My friend applied to Republic..he has 1525 hrs with over 300 ME and they said no thanks. He also has a Citation rating. So, they can't be that desperate.

Lol. Thanks! Now I won't wonder "who are you" in that avatar. I love their music but I guess I forgot who was in the band besides Daltry and Townsend.

SpeedyVagabond 02-28-2014 02:48 PM

Loon, you didn't by chance fly t-props through the Rockies did you? I think we might have been in initial together many "Moons" ago.:)

Flightsoffusion 02-28-2014 02:52 PM

Naa, more of a Dave Weckl, Dennis Chambers, Vinnie guy myself

captbiff 02-28-2014 03:15 PM

My source was good friend and a senior sim cka. Things are very very bad here. God help us when we have irops....it's very common to be left in hotel for days with no contact from cs after a schd change. I was on hold for over an hr last winter storm in the north east.... Like number 30 in the que to talk to someone.

Save yourself the frustration and go someplace else. New hire class last week had people leave after day one, or so I was told.

Amen to that. And no record collection is complete without "whistle rymes"

These pilots that are leaving after one day; where are they going? SkyWest, Mesa? Seems odd they would do this-especially with a new TA around the corner.

flyingmau5 02-28-2014 04:43 PM

Not really relevant to this thread but what equipment are new hires getting put into nowadays?

captbiff 02-28-2014 04:56 PM

Well, they had a class of new hires that were told they would be on the 170. Then mgmt changed it to the Q. Almost everyone left. I would guess a new hire would b on the yx 170 side to staff those new jets. Upgrades just got a lot further away due to the chq displacements. Gonna have 7+ yr fo's now. We've had about 80 or more quit since Jan 1. Guys are going where ever they can even outside of aviation altogether.

captbiff 02-28-2014 04:57 PM

And 3 shuttle classes have canceled because of a lot of no shows.

I never been for an interview with them, but they sent me this letter. I wonder how many other are getting it?

seafeye 02-28-2014 05:33 PM

Keith Moon?

NoJoy 02-28-2014 05:33 PM

That makes sense. If people wanted the jet-then got switched to the "Q" when they showed up for class- that would explain them leaving. The Q is a great plane, but it ain't jet time. ;)

That's rather misleading if they were told in the interview process to expect the jet...

NoJoy 02-28-2014 05:42 PM

^^^I agree with you. If they were told to expect the jet-then found out otherwise-they were probably ****ed-

NovemberBravo 02-28-2014 05:43 PM

RAH turned down two friends of mine one after he accepted the job offer. Both were 1500+hr CFIs

The guy who was turned away after the job offer probably had something in his background check show up that they didn't like or he didn't disclose.

Where does the Q fly out of? DEN?

10SNE1 02-28-2014 09:19 PM

Also - what's the latest regarding RAH's CLE hub? Is it going to be gone like CommutAir's? How about PIT with what's going on with CHQ? What's going on with these two domiciles regarding RAH?

At least they don't have to take the tellys out of the drummer's hotel room when The Who comes to town anymore.

When not cancelled, they are scheduled to fly out of DEN and EWR.

Best story I ever heard about that was told by Peter Townsend... he said they were already late for a gig, speeding down the road away from the hotel, when all of a sudden Keith flipped out and said that they had to go back, he'd forgotten something in his room. Thinking that he'd forgotten drugs that would get them in trouble, the van went back to the hotel. Keith jumps out and runs inside. A minute or so later they see his balcony door open, a television come flying over the edge smashing into the street... when keith jumps back into the van he says "Whew... I nearly forgot to do that!"

Dear Boy was such an interesting look into his life.

AH announced the CLE closure a little over a week ago and CHQ is losing 27 aircraft. IND and ORD are also closing on the CHQ side.

People who went to RAH for a quick upgrade have seen it pushed back by at least a year.

Regarding hiring, no one seems to be able to explain why perfectly qualified people are being turned away while similarly (or less) qualified applicants are being offered classes.

Such enigmas are indicative of how this company operates in every facet of it's operation. Working at RAH is constant exercise in frustration. Those not selected for employment should consider themselves lucky.

captbiff 03-01-2014 06:49 AM

Don't come here because we have a base that is in a city near where you want to live either. Just ask the 39 or so crews that just got kicked out of atl.... I'm one of em. And my initial schd for march was so bad...before swapping a few things out...I'd only be home 7 whole days...and when I say whole days I mean as in a whole 24 hr period. Only 7 of those.

The best part. The company announced ewr as a new dom....yeah! Another crappy city! But the really fun part was they didn't bother to tell anyone before the 2-27 deadline that a crew member would only have ual benefits... So there goes the dal ones. And we all know ual ones suck. It's on obey365 as a must read item.

I had new hire rah pit fo js the other day. He had no clue how to work the js. He just finished ioe after he was hired in sept......5+ months to finish wow.

He said he came here for the bonus. And he gave us the impression that he'd vote for whatever was put in front of him if it had a raise in it for him. So bb and wh are prob enforcing some kinda criteria that people with values and morals need not apply.. We want the blue falcons... ie...the buddy f$&ker.
So they can pass this pos TA with the fo and the jr capt vote

buddies8 03-01-2014 06:59 AM

that's management for you, hire the pliable ones first.
