Headset for ERJ 145

Just wondering what headset you guys recommend for flying the 145/135. I really hate wearing David Clarks and was wondering if anyone had any experience wearing a noise cancelling headset like the Telex 850 or the Lightspeed. Do they adequately cut down on the wind noise and make it tolerable up there?

I found the ERJ to be ultra-loud during my limited jumpseat voyages in it. But maybe that's just me. The common thread with ANR tends to be that once you start, you can't stop. No, it is not a necessary. But boy, it sure is nice.
Many tend to like the Lightspeeds and Telex's, and they seem to do a fair job for the money as far as noise reduction goes. I'm spoiled with my Bose though...I've never found anything half as comfortable and the noise reduction is amazing. Good luck.

You definitely do get spoiled with the Bose X Headset. When I was on a international flight in Europe, I saw the crew using the Bose Quiet Comfort 2 Headset (audio ones) coupled with a microphone and adapter for the aircraft. Those definitely looked a lot more comfortable all together because they don't clamp at all! I wasn't sure or haven't researched the possibilities, but those could be really nice.

I was also looking at the Mach 1 from Lightspeed. They have a partnership with some company that will make molds of your ear that help out a lot in terms of noise attenuation and comfortability. I don't really like to have things in my ear for extended periods of time, but a lot of people seem to really love the weightlessness of set. Anyone use these at the regionals?

I wear the same set of David Clarks that I've had since I started training for my Private, and they work just fine. You can definitely hear the airflow, but it's really not much louder than when you're doing 15 over the speed limit on the interstate.

Correct, I'm currently using a Bose QC2 coupled with the UFLYMIKE adapter, works GREAT! still cheaper than my old David Clark ENC set or full sized Bose headset, look for all of it on Ebay or a bose outlet store near you, the uflymike can be ordered from the company direct or through Ebay, great piece of gear, same price. Both items fit nicely into the case that comes with the Bose QC2 headset, plus you can use the QC2 for music and quiet comfort (no pun intended) on those commutes / deadheads. The best feature IMHO is the compact size of the thing for commuting, takes up very little space in your flight kit, the whole thing seems to be less than a pound, and about 1/3 as bulky.
