Your observation is mostly spot on. From someone with even more time in this business (30 years flying, 25 professionally, and 50 years old), I've noticed the same thing, for the most part. There are certainly a few folks here who know how to debate respectfully, but it seems the majority of posters here are relative kids. They shoot from the hip, are ALWAYS the smartest guy in the room, and know EVERYTHING (in their esteemed opinion, anyway). If one dares to disagree, they usually blast that person with some thinly veiled personal attack, then gloat about it. Absolute dead giveaway to their maturity level and (likely) young age.
It's not nearly as bad on the Major airline forum (although there are a few winners there too). For some reason, respectful posts seem to be ever more rare these days. |

I personally don't like the short sleeve with tie look either. It always reminds me of Dwight from The Office:
http://www2.pictures.zimbio.com/fp/S...jW9AotEUNl.jpg Or Al Bundy. For the warmer months I usually just roll my sleeves up. It is cleaner and looks something like this: http://indul.ccio.co/Y7/74/oE/931682...179uF3ppxc.jpg But to each their own. I don't judge how other people dress as long as they are not sloppy. The important thing is to buy clothes that fit. The 90s are dead and baggy clothes need to be burned in an incinerator. If you are wearing a uniform that is too baggy for you then you end up looking like a kid who borrowed his dad's suit. Get clothes that fit, fellas! |
TBH Dwight looks more like a pilot in that picture than haircut does in the second.

I posted about a Mesa date about a month ago. Just got back on to read some of this. I have been a pilot going on 25 years. Going on 46 years old now. Been a Corp pilot for all of the ride. Are you who post here pilots or what? I have never seen anything like this. Very Unprofessional. Sound like a bunch of kids.
Many have grown out of that immature faze but they are still trapped here due to a stagnant job market. Just wait another 2-3 years until the new era of wonder pilot kids enter the job force and come on this forum-there a lot more used to social media and have lots more attitude to share with all of us on the web. |

I agree, there are some immature people on here but thats the regional model....We're not paid like real professionals-many act their pay grade. The model exists to place the cheapest, least experienced (youngest) pilots in a jet.

I would have thought visible tattoos such as a forearm tattoo would have to be kept covered by company policy. |

If you want to see real grown up men and women acting like children then go read the threads in the Majors section about Delta vs. Alaska.

It's been my unscientific observation that mainline pilots act more like children on the forums, in the terminal, on the radio, and in the cockpit, than any other group.
When all else fails, bash the incoming generation. It makes you feel better. |

Ah yes, all the buzz words. You forgot "millennial" :p
I had a conversation with a senior UAL guy in the jumpseat a few years ago. He accused me of being "entitled" because I expect career progression at some point in my life. He was pushing for retirement to be changed to age 70, while I expressed my displeasure with it being at 65 instead of 60. "You think you're entitled to my job" or something to that extent  So tell me, who is entitled? The guy who wants to move up in the world? Or the guy who refuses to retire because he wants more money for himself? "Thanks to the guys who retired before me, and screw the guys who come after me. Its all ME ME ME!!" |

Says the pilot at a major that was picked up with their private, trained to their atp and never spent a single day at a regional airline. You silly goose pay your dues!! |

For some reason we often assume the senior major guy hasn't paid any....everyone has some sort of cross to bear and has some sort of rite of passage/entry. Just that some have/had more than others. |
