crazy stuff
I posted about a Mesa date about a month ago. Just got back on to read some of this. I have been a pilot going on 25 years. Going on 46 years old now. Been a Corp pilot for all of the ride. Are you who post here pilots or what? I have never seen anything like this. Very Unprofessional. Sound like a bunch of kids.

this ought to be good

Amazing stuff. I can't believe these folks fly for a living. They are just so irate. My thoughts.

It's not nearly as bad on the Major airline forum (although there are a few winners there too). For some reason, respectful posts seem to be ever more rare these days. |
You were considering working at Mesa?

You will find that sadly, this forum, to a large degree, mirrors the environment on the line.

Bonus points if he wears long sleeves and a hat. |

Exactly. Every time I fly a trip with a guy who leads with how many years and hours and how professional he is turns out to be a huge tool.
Bonus points if he wears long sleeves and a hat. Short sleeve + tie = nerd. The kind of guy/gal with a pocket protector. Look at executives. Do you see CEOs et. al. with short sleeve and tie combo? Every time I switch to my summer uniform (no jacket / short sleeve), I throw up in my mouth. |

I agree on many things I've read on here as well. I've been following posts on here for a while now, but finally got an account set up. Most of what is posted on here people wouldn't be so verbal to state in the open - I don't think. The screen names hide people so few if any know who the poster is. We walk past each other in the terminal and don't even know it. Most would probably seem professional in person. It's a place to vent. The problem is if the media were to dwell on what is said on here it would stereo type us all to be unprofessional. My 2 cents on the issue. |

Trippe fashioned his entire airline by looking no further than ocean liners which were widely regarded as the most prestigious way to travel at the time. The uniform, as we know it today, had absolutely nothing to do with executives. |

I'm nearly that old and have been in the regionals almost 10 years. This is a second career for me, and I am likely to start a third, as the regional business is fouled up beyond recognition. I've never been in such a mismanaged model that seems to go out of its way to waste money AND destroy employee morale. This is what you are reading. Glad your corporate job is terrific, though. |

Please don't bring that attitude into the right seat. Also leave your cool "one time I was flying corporate" stories at home.
There is a certain arrogance - an undeserved know-it-all attitude here - that's illustrative of this forum. It's sad, and you guys don't even get it. |
It's so hard nowadays, with all the gangs and rap music, and what about robots!?

To OP....
Congratulations on deciding to go the airline route. With your experience you'll likely do well in training, get some hours and an established pt 121 work history, and move on to something bigger and better paying within a year if that's your goal. Or you can take your type rating and sell it in China or Japan for about ten times the salary and long scheduled vacations. Don't worry about what the "kids" say, they probably couldn't pass the checkride and written over there anyway. |

I'm confused as to why this thread exists?..
Newsflash: this is the internet and nobody cares what you think. |

Yes yes a lot of posts are a bit nerdy and are also made by bored pilots on reserve who would otherwise never say it to someone's face. Get over it, it's the Internet! |

A lot of you guys are proving the OP's point in your response in THIS thread.
Specifically facebiter and Meah. Who I'm coming to believe is one of the same. |
It is a valid observation by the OP. I post on other forums, mainly vehicle maintenance forums, and don't see anywhere near the amount of ridiculing that goes on around here.
Considering religion and politics are off limits, its quite amazing that people are still bashed for harmless comments, opinions, and general observations. Maybe most airline pilots are egotistical narcissists after all. My wife seems to think so! |
