Default 117 reserve rest

Can one be on reserve until 8 am, and then be back on ready reserve for 8 hours at 4 pm? That is only 8 hours between rest periods.

Before a flightcrew member may accept any assignment to a FDP or reserve, he/she must have had a 10 consecutive-hour rest period including a minimum 8 uninterrupted hours of sleep opportunity immediately preceding the FDP or reserve assignment.

Ok, thanks. I thought it had to be 10. I was not called out yet, and my reserve period ends at 8 am, and they have assigned me 4 pm ready reserve.

They'd like to be able to do that stuff still but too bad for them!

Forget the old rules. 117 rest rules do not differ between line holder and reserve.

that is not entirely accurate.

lineholders do not need to meet the reserve duty day limits. Reserves have to meet both limits.

IE - lineholder is based off number of flights and report time.
Reserve has to consider the above, as well as max duty day with RAP. You can have a legal schedule based upon number of flights and report time, that is then NOT legal under RAP max duty day. A reserve has to be able to complete the day within both requirements, not just the one.

True, but the 117 rest rules are the same. I stand by my statement.
