If you want to jump ship and go the majors, Skywest isn't a bad move. It's a short time to upgrade. As soon as you have the 1,000 hours of crew time, you can move to the left seat on the EMB-120, if you're willing to stoop that low. (They've tossed a couple of new hires in lately with previous airline time.) Of course, that could all change next week.

It's hovering around the 24-30 month region. We just had one guy make it in 23 months.

They have taken morale at this company over the last 10 years and shoved it into the gutter, slowly but surely. The only thing that makes life at Horizon enjoyable is the other people that you work with day in and day out on the line.

It's a shame that the only management to stand up for their employee's ends up getting dealt a heavy blow by big brother. (referring to XJT and CAL) The rest of the regional carrier's will try to nickel and dime every contract that is placed before them. Whether it is Hulas kicking TSA and GOJET, J.O and MAG, Jerry Atkins and Skywest. Management folks are making large chunks of money at the expense of their labor force's. If it was not the lawful, I bet they would come close to have us fly for nothing. In the long run it all boils down to getting your PIC and moving on to a major and possibly not having a pension when you retire. When it's all said and done with you will be in a crew room at UPS, Fedex, United or Delta in the future and rubbing shoulders with pilots who once flew for Freedom, Gojet, Mesa, Colgan, Gulfstream and all the other regionals that we disapprove of. Some will hurt more when they sit than others!!! Commuters where meant as a stepping stone to launch you into a major or legacy and because of the SJS there are more of a place to get ******ed royally. So to answer your question... what regional to work for?? It doesn't matter which one, just depends on how badly you want to get mistreated to get to the big boys.......if we ever make it there!!
