Oh, thanks for letting us in on that little negotiating tip. We were unaware that we needed better pay, but you have shown us the light!

Imagine if you guys and us (ACA at the time) didn't get bent over by United in 2003 as well as COMAIR's situation now.

My second year FO rate at ACA would be $3/hr more than my current rate 2nd year rate, along with more soft time to boot. The sad part is, that rate is almost 4 years old.

They could be picked up by republic. I suspect they'll make it but as a smaller company.

On many of these pay charts, there are often over 100 hourly rates (for various equipment and various years of seniority). But for a regional airline, timebuilding pilots should not care about 18yr capt, or 10 year FO....
The most important numbers to look at are 1st year FO, 2nd year FO, maybe 3rd year FO, maybe 3rd year capt, 4th year capt, 5th year capt... (depending on potential upgrade time).

It seems to me like everyone looks at 1st year pay, maybe 5th year capt pay, and maximum capt pay (even though that is completely irrelevant). If I were in a contract negotiation, I would be most focused on the pay rates that EVERYONE will have to work for (1st year FO, 2nd year FO, 3rd year FO. I could care less if they change 8th year FO and 14th year Capt!!!

Like in my comparison of ASA and Pinnacle, 22 out of 24 numbers could be VERY similar (within $3 an hour, most the EXACT same!!) on the pay chart, yet one is astonishingly better (ASA) because of 2nd year and 3rd year FO pay (and that is over $15,000 difference!). So be sure to look very closely!

Good luck to Pinnacle in their negotiations. Be sure to especially look at those 2nd and 3rd year FO pay!
