Aside from teachers, military, and government employees, it seems most pay a good amount of coin to insure a family. At least that's been my experience at different jobs I held before coming to the regionals. Insuring yourself is affordable, add a dependent and it gets pricey. Throw a couple of kids into the equation and that's when it goes through the roof.

9E about $360 per month for family HRA. Company funds a $1000 to a reimbursement account with total out of pocket max of $3200 for the family.
There is a OAP at about $640 per month. Not sure of the out of pocket details and such, but HRA is generally a better deal.
Our part of the premium is 25% of the total cost of the insurance.

Stepping foot in the ER is about $2k. Anything major, and you are bankrupt with this strategy.
