Current Pilot Counts for Regional Airlines

APC has them listed, but I'm sure they are all out of date. If anyone has access to a current seniority list what is the total count at your airline (and date the list was published)

APC numbers:

Envoy - 2650
Republic - 3000
XJT - 4633
SKW - 3375
Compass - 439
Endeavor - 1722
Gojet - 510
Horizon - 585
Mesa - 855
Piedmont - 392
TSA - 370
Air Wisconsin - 860
Commutair - 224
PSA - 860

4V14T0R 12-16-2014 01:13 PM

Republic is 2304 as of Dec 2014. That 3000 number includes F9 and as such is wholly out of date.

Check Complete 12-16-2014 02:42 PM

SkyWest, as of just now is 3399, but there's probably 150 of those that will never fly, maybe more.

pete2800 12-16-2014 03:13 PM

Horizon is at 619.

The most junior upgrading Captain is also an 11/06 hire. Not 11/03 like APC says.

Compass has 534 pilots. Hiring 10/week through almost all of 2015.

Xdashdriver 12-16-2014 07:52 PM

Mesa has hit the 1000 mark again.

And they plan to hire 400 in 2015?

Avroman 12-16-2014 09:06 PM

As of Nov 21 Endeavor shows 1581 (a whopping 24 hired since 2011) over 300 of those do not actively bid/fly and we have averaged about 50 per month quitting one way or another.

No idea what the recruiting department has in mind, but I've heard the total number of 1300 thrown around a few times. Not sure if that's accurate.

Bold figures are the up to date numbers.

Anyone have numbers for Envoy, GJ, Piedmont, TSA, or Commutair?

Post or PM is fine. I am interested in seeing the rate of shrinkage of the regional pilot group over then next few years.

No problem. Commutair has 207 pilots. Most junior captain is around July-August 2012. Have 2 upgrade classes going through January and February so that should drop a little bit

No doubt planning for attrition when the FOs figure it out.

babs 12-19-2014 01:33 PM

Envoy hasn't updated a seniority list for a few months but has ~2400 on the seniority list with less than 2000 of those active.

Current Pilot Counts for Regional Airlines

If one is not 'active' then what are they? Do try have the option to return and keep their seniority number?

Could be numerous other statuses but usually:

- MIL leave
- FMLA
- Medical (for some this is months for some it's years)
- ground instructor
- sim instructor

prob others I can't think of now

Ray Red 03-31-2015 12:31 PM

These are numbers from the beginning of the year. If you have a current count of pilot at any of these airlines, please post the updated numbers. Thanks.

I'd guess Mesa's about 1100 too.

NewPil0t 03-31-2015 01:05 PM

PDT Seniority list has 395 including the February class, but not 6 more from March.

There's also 20 or so AA/US flowees that haven't been removed from the list.

Junior CA is now 4/12.

There was 22000 a year and a half ago. Bleeding pilots like crazy yet the dummies at the helm are oblivious.

Still way too many regional airline pilots!
Let the flying go back to where it belongs.

The whipsaw in full effect: The cheap"o"s are growing and the good pay/contracts are dying. All the while, pilots are recycling themselves to pay step 1, much to the delight of managements bank accounts. It would be funny if it weren't so sad. This is the third time in my career I have watched it happen too. Some of you may think you are winning now, but I assure you, no one wins in the end - everyone gets a chance at the top and a much longer period at the bottom. So is the circle of life at the regionals. This time, we have no one to blame but ourselves.
