ExpressJet upgrade

Anyone knows how long is the upgrade to left seat on Expressjet?? How's the job there (job security, QOL) on the long run as compared to..say JetBlue. I may have the chance on both, but I'd like more info on ExpJet. Appreciate any insight..

Upgrade to left seat currently going just over 2 years. (2 years 3 months give or take). Seems like it should continue as they are planning 2 upgrade classes per month for the forseeable future (16/class = about 350+ upgrades/year).

No one knows anything for sure with the new ventures here (charter, branded etc). but my personal impression is that things are doing well as far as job security. Things aren't turning south anytime soon.

QOL is good if you can make it through 1st year pay. Contract is among the best for 50 seat aircraft and charter guys will make a decent living.

Comparing XJT to jetblue is hard. Jetblue flies larger aircraft A320/E190, but i havent heard the greatest stuff from JB lately...who knows. If XJT branded flying goes well, we have the potential to get afore-mentioned larger aircraft and could grow....its all in the air.... who knows.

Thanks for your thoughts, the grass on B6 isn't all that green anymore...as for flying bigger planes who cares! they still pay like regional..

Comparing ExpressJet vs. JB is ludicrious. JB by far would be the better choice IMO. They don't have to worry about these silly RFP's. People go to regionals to have a chance to get on at places like jetBlue, in fact I'd bet my left nut people have left ExpressJet for JB, and far fewer have done vice versa, if any at all.

How about you worry about the AWAC threads and stop your bs thrashing of XJT, Its getting really old. :cool:

Don't get me wrong. XJet is a good job for a regional airline. But look at it this way, the sh1t could hit the fan at ANY company no matter how much koolaide is passed around.

I don't know if you have PIC time or not. I'm assuming you do if you have the chance to go to JB. Or, you've got one heck of a reccomnedation. Of the 30 or so people I know from my last job that made it to JB, only one had no fixed wing turbine PIC time. He was way persistant and has a ton of PIC in helos and well as considerable combat expererience.

Look at it this way if things went downhill;

Would you rather the chance to be trained in a 50 seat RJ or a narrow body A320?

I'm not bashing ExpressJet, how did you get that impression? This guy was asking his opinion and I gave it. If he would have said [insert regional airline] vs jetBlue, I would have given him the same answer.

You can't honestly say, given the choice as a new hire @ XJT or JB, you would take XJT, would you? Be honest.

But wait, my opinion doesn't count, because I'm "just a CFI", right? Gotcha. Thanks for the attitude readjustment.

Any body else at XJT notice the new bricks that came out this month with places like San Francisco, Santa Barbara, Sacramento, Fresno, Missoula, Eugene, etc. etc. in them?

Last couple B6 pilots in the jumpseat hated life. One tried to talk to the captain out of applying...said life sucked over there and they all want to get out...
