Default Question(s) about UA5166

Mr. vagabond and I are booked on this flight in a few weeks.

1) Is this on time usually?
2) What are the chances it will be cancelled?
3) It's on something called the CRJ700. Will I be able to carry on my 19" backpack/suitcase? I've been taking my walks carrying this thing on my back just to get used to it. It weighs 15 pounds.
4) It's a SkyWest flight. If you know you're working this flight and you are an APC member, I'd appreciate a PM.

1.Check flightaware.com it will tell you the ontime stats.
2.really depends on weather and equipment
3. Maybe.
4. The crews change by day. I doubt anyone can attest that they are flying that flight.

Oh dear. I checked Flightaware.

I typed in both UA5166 and SkyWest 5166 and it says it's Denver to Bismarck!?!

My receipt says it's supposed to be Houston to Miami. Arrive in Miami at 10:48 am.

We are trying to catch a cruise ship that sails a few hours after.

The same flight number may be used for multiple flights each day, or different flights on different days.

IAH-MIA "should" be on time, it's too far south for snow, and too early in the year for thunder-bumpers.

The bag will fit but they may want you to gate check it. If you board late and the flight's full they may run out of bin space and then you'll have to gate check it. But you'll get it back planeside immediately after you arrive.

I'm not flying it.

First mistake was booking a United flight to arrive just hours before your cruise.

What would a PM really do for you?

Can you imagine the outcome if I asked these questions on the mainline board if I was flying on a mainline plane? Yikes.

Look at your post history makes me envision you as the APC firefighter. Putting out lots of little fires all the time.

Without getting too personal, I'm curious about your background vagabond. I know you like the Seahawks and apparently have a cute dog, but if you don't mind my asking what's your aviation background? Just ask because here you are as a moderator on APC but you're somewhat unfamiliar with the CRJ700.

Vagabond, for future cruises regardless of the airline, I suggest you fly out the day before and not on the last flight. WX, MX, etc. happen to all airlines. Plan on having a nice dinner the night before the cruise, that way if something does happen, you can get rebooked later that night or early the next day. Ships nearly always leave on time, and once you miss the ship's movements, you are toast: take it from a sailor.
