Military, all salaried positions, doctors, lawyers, accountants, IT...and the list goes on. Technically the military can force you to work. Every other profession provides compensation mechanisms (double time) to do it and can fire you if you refuse.

They don't junior man you with cold calls, obviously you just opened your beer and can't fly. They get you on reserve, they get you when reporting in or out if you have that, they get you in the middle of a trip.

"Crew scheduling? Yes, hello, this is FO #XXXXX, and unfortunately I'm calling in fatigued."

All the profession you mentioned are White Collar jobs I think that most people forget that our profession is Blue Collar.

My company has junior-man capability, and it's only really a myth. I don't think it's happened to anyone in recent history. There are almost infinite ways out of that scenario that it's pretty much useless.

RAH likes to put little notes on the flight release to get crew members. Something along the lines of "release not valid until crew member xxxxxx contacts scheduling". They'll withhold hotel rooms on layovers until you call them or even send people to physically meet you at the gate as you arrive.

"Ok FO #xxxxx, contact your chief pilot immediately for your occurrence".

Sounds like a wonderful place to work. Is it an airline or the Mafioso? Do they break your legs if you refuse an extension?

I mean really, what's the worst that can happen, you get fired? They would be doing you a favor.

"Okay crew scheduling, I'll contact the FAA as well and let them know you are pressuring me to fly fatigued."

Trust me. It won't work that way for very long.

How anybody still works at this place is beyond me.
