That's short-sighted. Again, we are talking about an aviation industry pilot shortage. Yes, now we are discussing shortcomings at the regional airline level, but if you just increase starting pay here, you'll vacuum up all the CFIs and box fliers.
The fact remains that there is an unprecedented retirement happening in the next two decades. The GA infrastructure is becoming non-existent. Flight training costs/college education tuition are skyrocketing. Outside of colleges, there is virtually no way to get financing and if you don't want to take out a loan, it'll take 4-6 years to get airline mins. Yes, an increase of pay at regional A will have no problem with filling seats but it is at the detriment of regional B.
It is more than just pay

The pilot compensation model especially at the regional level is broken, unlivable wages are not sustainable anymore in 2015. I mean guys are being paid the same amount that pilots were making in 1980!

No. Those "low-life's" went to the legacy pilots and asked if they'd fly turbo-props and they said no. So, they said if you want pay raises, you have to let some other company fly props. They jumped on it. The same thing happened with Continental and CoEx. I'm awake and don't live in my own "pilots are perfect" fantasy-land.

Actually it is. If you make this job desirable again, people will find a way to get that loan, go to college for it, or suffer through 1500 hours of flying around the pattern. If you've been in this industry long enough you know that things can change very quickly.

Here we go again. This is just history. I'm not trying to reimagine how the regionals came about. If you want to just spout false truths in hopes of demonizing companies, you are more than welcome. You are wrong. I'm not a "lackey" or "pro-company." I'm stating facts and using them to create an opinion. It's not my fault you are incapable of having a single critical thought outside of your own personal greed.
