LA is expensive. Most of the pay will go towards housing, and unless you have roommates ALL your pay is going to go for housing if your a regional.

I understand. Are most regionals sticking to their 100multi time as a firm fixed number? I'm at 80 and I don't want to waste $2000 on becoming an MEI.

Socal Domiciles:
San Diego: EMB
Calsbad: EMB
LAX: EMB & CRJ (both are reserve ONLY)
FAT: EMB & CRJ
Santa Barbara: EMB & CRJ
San Luis Obispo: EMB
Palm Springs: EMB & CRJ

Norcal Domiciles:
San Fran: EMB & CRJ (both are reserve ONLY)
Sacrarmento: EMB & CRJ
Montery: EMB

All California CRJ domiciles are relatively senior on the FO side and very senior on the CA. On the Bro (EMB) you can hold any of them as FO after a few months, with FAT & PSP being the most junior (EMB) domicile. As Bro CA you'll only see FAT! It will take you the better part of a decade to get SMF, SBA, SBP, SAN, MRY, PSP, CRQ and longer for the jet.

DON'T FORGET that ASA just opened a LAX base and it's fairly Jr.

I was waiting for someone to mention that.

I don't think ASA's LAX base is having new hires go into the LAX base directly. I talked to a friend who said that they have bid for LAX and can't get it. They have been there for over a year. Can any ASA guys/gals confirm this?

A good friend of mine who instructed with me and currently lives next door started ground school at ASA in late May 06. He was part of the second wave of pilots transferred to LAX and is currently flying there as we speak. He was able to make the move after being there less than 7 months. In ALT he was sitting reserve and in LAX he says he's bidding in the top 2/3s of lineholders.

I’m taking his experience into account when I say “fairly” and not “extremely.”

Since the RJ doesn't even fly to LAX, I highly doubt that will happen soon.

It wouldn't surprise me to see QX open a Q400 base there, though. Especially if marketing decides to get into some of the smaller Mexican cities.
