Bose A20 versus Clarity Aloft
Just curious if some of you could chime in on what you prefer between these two?
I'll be on the E175 and currently have a pair of A20s but I've been told the noise canceling is not as "necessary" as it would be on a King Air or equivalent turbo prop. What are your thoughts on the Clarity Aloft product for jets and is it used a lot on the line a by your peers? Thanks.

Depends, I gave the Tsoc clarity aloft a try and hated it after a long day due to the metal wire digging into my head, this is similar to the clamping feeling but behind your ear...I think the newer non Ted version would be much much more comfortable. I miss my old lightspeed Mach 1. If you can find one and not let it break on you, that's the best option u till you are ready to move into a telex or plantronics ear bud.

Never pass up a chance to protect your hearing. Never listen to anyone who tells you otherwise. Use the best headset that you can get and always have ear plugs in your pocket - and do not hesitate to pull them out and use them.

I'm using the Clarity on the E-175. It's great. All volumes on 50. I get in to some planes and the volumes are up to 65-75. You know those guys are blasting the volume.
No interference with them either. I can wear whatever sunglasses I want and it doesn't get sweaty like the ear muffs.

Have had both A20 and Clarity Aloft while flying the E170 (as well as Bose X). My Clarity Aloft went on ebay after I tried to love them for 6 months.
My issue with the Clarity Aloft is that the metal wire digs into my head and makes my ears hurt over prolonged wear. I also took issue with the cost of consumables. The foam ear plugs are expensive. I wanted to replace them every 4-day trip, but ended up trying to stretch them out for multiple trips due to cost. They get kinda nasty like any set of ear plugs. I also didn't like how if you lean your head back against the headrest, it pushes on your ears. You can not rest your head with these.
@Maingear for the Republic 170/175s, 50 on the volume was perfect, but the altitude alerter would just about scare the **** out of me because it was so loud. There were definitely some volume balance issues that I never sorted out.
As much as I love my A20s, I'm going to give the Quiet Technologies Halo a shot. They just arrived yesterday. Cheaper than the Clarity Aloft, the foam plugs are cheaper, the headset can be worn in various positions; on top of your head, around your neck, or around the back (like the Clarity Aloft).
And for people giving the OP a hard time, a headset is a tax deduction and your hearing is worth it.
