Everybody is hiring, including the LCCs. Was that a serious question? Better to leave now and accrue seniority than wait until it's too late and be junior to everyone else.

Yeah I wasn't sarcastic and definitely not mean about it, just genuinely asking how would the industry absorb that many qualified pilots in a relatively short amount of time. It's safe to say all of these pilots and other airline employees would like to get similar jobs to what they had at RAH. For pilots, if there are that many open seats amongst the majors and LCC's today and within the next couple of months, then this could work.

2,000 pilots would easily find homes.

It doesn't happen overnight. Some guys are out of work for months, if not longer.

Unless there is a dramatic reduction in required lift, the flying that Republic is doing will go elsewhere. It does not necessarily mean more jobs for pilots, however.

It could be something like an Airbus covering the flights between two cities instead of 3 RJ's. In this case, there are less jobs at the regionals. Or, a 75 seat jet going twice a day instead of a 50 seat RJ going 3 times a day. Same lift, less pilot jobs.

Yeah, it'll happen. This same song has been played for decades now at a number of different airlines that are part of the history books. Furloughs may come first before Republic goes completely Tango Uniform.

Other Regionals will absorb those pilots like sponges. As in the past, I expect many to turn their backs on flying all together. Some will go to China and other countries. Those who keep flying here will by and large be woven into the Regional tapestry as junior pilots. The Captains may be able to find spots at the LCCs and some at the majors.

Either way I wouldn't wait for the first Warn letter. I wouldn't accept an interview offer at Republic and I wouldn't stay there another day longer than I had to.

If we could find some Pan Am pilots from the 80s they could provide great insight. Some had an opportunity to transfer to United when Pan Am sold their London right along with some 747s. More than a few Pan Am guys who could have gone decided to stay and hope for the best.

Bad choice.

Thanks, I understand now.

The problem is most of these jobs are regional FO jobs starting at the bottom of the pay scale and the bottom of the seniority list at some of the worst carriers in the industry.

The FO's at Republic are already at the bottom in pay and bennies. I don't think going to another regional would effect them too much.

That is the decision facing every Republic pilot right now. Ride it out until the end hoping for a miracle or jump ship now and try and find some higher ground before the floodgates open. It's not an enviable position to be in.

This is the problem with a lot of the pilots we have today. People like billyho are salivating at the thought of more people beneath him at Piedmont so he spreads doom and gloom and loves every minute of it.

Need to agree with Smitteyb, FirstClass and billyho both are only participating in this thread because they would benefit from an RAH demise.

Get lost.
