Speaking of reserve, was talking with 2 Xjet pilots recently who said that if/when a new contract is arranged, there will/might be a different reserve system where junior people do a mixture of trips and reserve days (sort of like Delta FAs). Anyone heard that?

LOL at people still going to ASA/XJT when places like Compass have 1 year upgrade times and pay just as well.

Another question; I was talking with a past ExpressJet pilot, he said they are going to EFB. Surface 3's?? How soon is this going to be brought on line. I have an offer from a friend for a leather chart bag.. one that was purchased from the company. He said he paid 150 but will sell it for 75. Is it worth it? If they go EFB then i won't need it, how soon till they go electronic.

First base gets theirs starting 8/20. After 6 weeks, every base is supposed to have started distributing them and then we are supposed to be able to get rid of charts and manuals.

I hope not. That would mean ABSOLUTE ZERO open time. But I wouldn't put it past them.

I left XJT after 3 years in January and went to Compass. I'm already finishing upgrade in less than 7 months after my class date! How XJT gets a single applicant is mind boggling.

I'd guess part of it is the recruiting teams ability to produce propaganda like this which dupes all the kids out there looking for their first 121 job:

http://s7.postimg.org/neq0b2vyj/xjt_propoganda.jpg

They've gotten real good and putting out sleek promotional material. And they've been hitting the road hard, dangling jets in the faces of pimply faced kids at various colleges around the eastern US. But, anyone in the know knows it's all just lipstick on a big fat stinky PIG.

Congrats on escaping this h*ll hole.

There are less reserve pilots than line holders. Therefore you are benefiting more pilots. Anyway, we are talking about less than 5% open time. That's probably one trip per reserve pilot's whole monthly schedule. Whereas zero open time CEMENTS EVERY line holder into their trip. No more bad day worse day trades.

There is nothing wrong with going to ExpressJet. Just as there is nothing wrong with going to Envoy, or most other Regionals these days.

There IS MOST CERTAINLY something wrong with going to Mesa or Republic. I'm not even going to mention Commutair, Silver, or Great Lakes.

But if anybody chooses to go to Mesa or Republic with so many other airlines hiring they seriously need to be evaluated in the head for mental illness. Otherwise, any Regional you go to work for these days will be fine. Some have things others don't. It's positives and negatives but all washes out in the end.

Agree with everything the gentleman says here. The only down side to XJT is the lack of money from sitting in the right seat for so long. To our former coworker, If you truly have a better life at Compass, I wish you the best. Captain pay is great, but not if you have to commute for it. I have done the commute for more money and was miserable every day of my life. Now I am only miserable on the 15th and last day of every month. Do what you need to do to feed your family, but if you have a choice, go with the more stable company. No digs at Compass, but your feed can be totally replaced almost overnight. Not so much with XJT.
