my friend who started class a couple months ago said he didn't need to buy anything. well you still need to pay for part of your uniforms but i beleive that comes out of your check. they give you binders and everything. he said they are pretty nice binders, pen holders, and tabs, you know stuff like that. those binders may have been for the company manuels too. hopefully someone who has gone through recently will chime in for you.

SOP binder (company binder), jepp charts, basic uniform (2 shirts, 2 pairs pants, tie, epielets, and metal stuff (wings, nametag, hat emblem)) are all paid for.

Jacket, extra shirts, jepp binders, hat anything else not listed above are on your own dime.

At a minnimum you'll need to buy leather jacket ($350ish) and 3 2" binders ($22 if you go the office depot route).

Not as bad as it used to be, but when budgeting remember $19.25 x 60 - taxes= poverty.

You don't need to buy the hat or the leather jacket, those are optional.

Why the leather jacket? Don't they provide a blazer? You do have a point, SLC,DEN,ORD all can get chilly. Thank you for the information.

How is the shirts and pants. My friend at pinnacle got some cool pants that keep your shirt tucked in, and they are made real well.. Any other suggestions for a new hire at SkyWest?

Look on Ebay for the good Jepp binders for a good price.

Thanks... I will do that.... I am all for learning from others who have been there and done that. keep em coming.

Well, you need the hat if you get the overcoat, and and the blazer alone isn't warm enough for Butte or Bozeman this time of year, so you need the overcoat if you get te blazer (not covered by the company either). I went for the leather jacket becasue the hat+blazer+overcoat was about the same price and I figured I could use the yearly allowance to purchse those items over time if I so desired.

where do you get the blazer and the hat? does the company have them or is it from some outside source?

Ok maybe I am little to out of the loop, but if their paying you $21 an hour or whatever, why not go get a plain, single colored jacket from say WalMart? Seriously, I wear a simple blue and gray coat that I bought for $10 at Steve and Barries. We gripe we are broke, but we buy a $350 leather jacket?
