Is it me, or doesn't it seem WRONG for skywest to pay their pilots the same regardless if they are flying the CRJ 200s, 700s, or 900s??

its wrong... check out the other threads about the new pay package that gives a 5% override on the 700/900 that went effective Jan 1st. there is however no pay difference now between the 700 and 900. also wrong, but there is nothing we can do about it since the union drive is a lost cause. this pay package extends out far enough in the future that hopefully we'll all be moved on and can laugh about how crappy it was...

Not really. It depends how you look at it. Some airlines pay the same if you're in a 727 or 747. I get the same pay for 757-200 and 757-300 and one has 42 more seats than the other. I actually get paid more to fly a 767-200 with less seats than a 757-300. It's widebody pay. It's not always about seats. All the CRJ's are basically the same. It's up to the pilots and their union to decide what they want and will get paid. If you think you/they should get paid more, then do something about it. Pilots need to fight for their pay these days.

It would be more wrong if their pay was in the basement to begin with. Since SKYW pay is quite livable, it's not such a bad deal in my opinion.

Livable yes after your first year! As long as you live in a small town in the midwest, but then your going to have to commute which will add a whole new level fun. Same seat # between the 700/900, but as said above, still does not make it right. At least their getting override pay for the bigger planes which is a step in the right direction.

yeah pilots in general are underpaid, big time. Especially compared to a few decades ago....but I guess ya gotta start somewhere. That doesn't mean that I agree with the regional pay scales.

No, it's not right. I agree, and hope that it will change soon. However, things could be far far worse...some act like it's the end of the world. If such people would look around a bit maybe they'd realize that maybe life isn't so bad at all, and do something more about it than complain and act like life is miserable all the time. First year pay is rough, but could be worse...trust me.

There is absolutely NOTHING okay about being the Captain of a jet with 90 people onboard for $63/hour. (3 year Captain with a $3/hr override). Seriously folks let's think about this.....3 more dollars to carry almost twice as many people?????

I have a lot of friends at Skywest, but that's highway robbery. They're taking it in the poopshoot for the hope of a quick upgrade... Screwing us all over in the long run.
