Default AWAC Pilots: We won!!

We 'won' our arbitration!! Yay!

What will it mean?

Full back pay?
Old contract and all the rigs?

Will it be good or will the company find a new way to make this a very bitter victory?

It means that the powers that be are already trying to figure a way around this decision...

I'm sure Fosters is gonna be on here complaining about how internal AWAC info has once again leaked out to the masses...

First year FO pay would be 25.50, 2nd year would be 39.39.

If we get full retro I'd stand to get over 1500 back and I've been here 13 months...but I don't know the likelihood of that happening. If so that'd be SUPER for everybody here and all the alums...but I could see no retro pay for anybody save a 401k correction.

Having not been here for the 2003 concessions, I'd be quite satisfied with 'only' the 2001 workrules & payrates because that would probably improve QOL immensely while providing a good boost to the W2. After all the lost RFPs and the Midwest loss that hurt the most, today is a good day to fly for Air Wisconsin.

I'm not so concerned about this news; it's the RFP stuff that I get p/o at.

My sim instructor had calculated as of last year they were out over $50,000. A large chunk of change.

With a pay rate of >$39/hr and higher per diem (I think pre-concessionary it was $1.75/hr + the $0.10 bump so $1.85 now) 2nd year FO's would be able to make into the low $50's. Not bad for 50 seat RJ pay. Now, how long it will last?

it would be great if PNCL could get a contract like those guys! Congrats AWAC, no you just gotta chase down Horizon... As far as I know horizon is the top regional all around.

Horizon may have us beat, but it will be close.

Before the collapse began, there were a bunch of very good 'regional' carriers, and AWAC was one of the very best. We had industry leading work rules, pay, schedules, etc.

I am at least cautiously optimistic that this will help lead a turnaround at other regional carriers which have been taken to the cleaners by ultra greedy management. I am thinking in particular of Mesaba and Comair.

Can someone elaborate as to what just happened? Many of us are not in the know. Didn't even know there was an arbitration going on.

ALPA filed a grievance after United gave us the boot, saying the concessions were predicated on an affirmed contract with UAL and the pilots accepted concessions under false pretenses (ie LIES from ATW). It went to arbitration, and the arbitrator ruled in the pilot group's favor. We expect at the very least to get the 2001 contract back, and many expect full back pay. The arbitrator gave the union and company 14 days to come to a "remedy", or "one will be provided".
