Once again, one of the usual suspects has to make a thread about me........and then of course, blame me for it's deterioration. The fact is, this thread was diseased from the start started by a poser claiming to be a wide-eyed newbie looking for flow info. When you two get together later, toast your cold one's to yet another trip to YOUR favorite destination.

The latest union seniority lists at envoy shows the latest new hires flowing April 2022. This is assuming they match the minimum flow rates, and no one leaves. If the honor the flow that is a good deal to have in the back pocket. Lets hope they do and then some.

Big IF there. Not to mention the increasing chances of another recession, housing market bubble, or terrorist attack. Bottom line folks, gambling on a flow is the same as gambling with your money at a casino. If you're lucky, it will work out. But for most it won't. The house always wins in the end.

So how would everyone else at any airline make out in the event of a recession, housing market bubble, or terrorist attack?

I'm relatively new to Regionals threads too, but after awhile, you start to figure out who's a rotten turnip, and who's nice. We don't need to rip on each other here... it takes up space when it's already cumbersome enough to sift through page after page of what might be relative to the information YOU want... even with the search function. So what if you're asking something that has been asked before? If I could, I'd dump vBulletin or re-design it so that instead of sifting through 1000 pages of Regionals or Majors, looking for one out of hundreds of "sub-subjects", there would be a LOT more sub-categories to query. But I digress...

In a nutshell, what I've been learning here is that flows MIGHT help us to a major 4-7 years from now, or they may very well cease to exist altogether, particularly if majors absorb their wholly-owned or can't fill their flight decks fast enough. I think you made the right choice with Envoy, because the flow is still a good insurance plan to have in the case that AA still decides to hire entirely within their ranks when you're ready to move up.

Only 2 airlines more than 3 decades old have never gone bankrupt nor ever furloughed a pilot, regardless of the economy or bubbles or attacks...

After having more than 3,000 pic in turbo props,
1500 pic jet time and more than 8,000 hours total time I had come to realize that without knowing someone important in one of the legacy airlines or without a flow program it will be 1,000 times harder for me to get hired at a major.

I don't have anything against PDT, nothing wrong with going there for the flow over Envoy. The biggest negatives with them would be the domiciles if you are a commuter, and the fact that they are growing based on an old dying fleet from Envoy. Those are fairly high time aircraft, I have thousands of hours in them and pretty familiar with them. The E145's days and leases are numbered. I would be concerned about all my growth being based on something old, used and not in the best condition. Also growth is based on not following with the industry trend of bigger regional jets and parking the smaller ones like everyone is doing. PDT does have a much quicker upgrade though, (for now).

PDT and Envoy merger is always a possibility in the future as well, so you could end up in the same place either way. It gets talked about quite a bit. Who knows. If you live in a PDT base though, makes the decision easy.

I cannot see how any pilot at any regional airline would become unemployed for long. Regarding any regionals that fail (and there will be some), their pilots will find regional airline employment immediately, especially with RJ experience. I think Envoy is one of the least likely to fail. It may shrink and eventually consolidate, but not fail or furlough. In the worst case scenario, I don't think AA would furlough. Cease hiring for X period of time perhaps, which would stop the flow in that situation in addition to stagnation among AA pilots. It all depends on where you are when the music stops which has happened repeatedly in the past.

Well... you were undoubtedly flying during the tail end of the Great Recession, when that was undoubtedly true.
