Best Headset

Fellas,

What do you guys recommend for a good set of headsets. Im about to pull the tigger on BoseA20. How noisy is the E175 vs others?

Thanks.

No idea about the 175, but I'm loving the Bose QC15 plus UFlyMic combination in the CRJ. Great for DH's and Non Rev as well.

You can buy a decent QC15 used for $120 ish, and adding on the UFly you're less than $400 invested.

zondaracer 05-14-2016 09:34 AM

Costco is selling brand new QC15s for $240.

LongsleevesNhat 05-14-2016 09:39 AM

David Clark X11 gets my vote. On the ear, for me, is preferable to over the ear in the 121 hot mic environment. Good ANR and the blue tooth lets me study the company manuals I have downloaded on audible during cruise to keep up to date with FOM requirements.

Geardownflaps30 05-14-2016 09:46 AM

The 175 isn't very noisy compared to many other jets. Nothing like the 145 or 737 at all.

The best headset for you is the one that you find affordable, comfortable and helps you hear with clarity. That particular headset is very subjective.

But that said, I've been using the Bose X for 14 or 15 years now. Have had it rebuilt once. It's quite adequate in the 170/175. Like any headset though, after about three or four hours into your flight, nothing feels good.

I didnt find the E175 noisy at all, not as quiet as a CRJ but not as noisy as a 145. I had telex 750s and thought they were great. Go for the 850s if you really want the ANR but i didnt find it necessary. Personally, i didn't wear the headset over 180 on most flights.

GrassLandings 05-14-2016 09:48 AM

175 isn't as quiet as the Airbus, but it's close. Qc15's and the uflymic is my recommendation. Light, packs easy, and doesn't clamp. Best part is its 700$ cheaper than the A20. If you buy used its even better. I got my headset for 80$ off eBay, and the mic was new. So 330$ I think was my total investment. Plus you can use the qc15's in something other than aviation. Win win

Maingear 05-14-2016 10:01 AM

Clarity aloft for the 175.

SkyWago 05-14-2016 10:03 AM

One that doesn't get in the way of your oversized aviators and looks cool in all your selfies while flying.

CaYaTeKbron 05-14-2016 10:05 AM

Congrats' E175 on u/r job with Envoy !!!!

QT Halos. Clarity Aloft if your airline requires TSO'd headset.

TillerEnvy 05-14-2016 10:18 AM

I refuse to give you an answer unless you change your screen name.

Ufly mics can come TSO'd or be sent back to be TSO'd.
I tried clarity a lofts, it was the most uncomfortable headset ever. Light, sure. Weightless almost. However that wire headband dug into the skin on top of my ears after an hour or so. And then add sunglass on top of it it was downright painful. Also not very durable at all.

Why on earth people use the same screen name in multiple places online I'll never know... Take his advice Driver.

Not my experience with the Clarity Aloft at all. Best overall headset I've ever used. Very durable if you take proper precautions.

Is the Bose QC-15 the new one?

If you're a real person you're going to fail miserably in this career.

Telex 750 with earplugs. Your headaches will disappear.

Those are the ones at Costco. Thought about picking them up yesterday but my QC15s are still going strong.

At the Costco by my house, they definitely were only selling the QC-15s. That would be great if they were already selling the QC-25s.

The UflyMic isn't compatible with the QC25. They are working on a new mic. They should have it out for sell as early as this fall to as late as 2025.

OrionDriver 05-14-2016 10:32 PM

I love my Zulu 2 headset, very comfortable, great clarity, very nice.

It's already been what, 2 years? I'm really thinking now the QC75 model will be out before they finally sell mics for the 25s. Mike has to be rolling over in his grave at how long it's taking them...

Because he's enthusiastic about starting a new chapter in his career and asked for advice on which headset would be best??? was it not exciting when you started at your first airline?

You sound like a real treat to fly with...

It's because he is a tool and a troll and has SJS and wont work anywhere not flying the 175.

So response is valid.

All I did was ask about a pair of headsets. I feel bad for those captains that get paired with me with that kind of chip on shoulder.

lol...I feel bad for them too.

SkyWago 05-15-2016 06:47 AM

I do not feel bad at all knowing the post history of said screen name

Pete389 05-15-2016 06:49 AM

I was implying that I feel bad for anyone that gets stuck in anything resembling a cockpit with someone the likes of Mr. 175.

Well then we are on the same page. I think I would get an awful suntan from the reflection off those Giant Aviators Mr 175 wears while flying.

What if E 175 driver and JB22 were in a cockpit together?

I don't think you could even fit someone else in the cockpit considering how huge Mr 175's ego is.

E175Driver is probably facebiter reborn after his ban.

Lyon188 05-16-2016 05:08 AM

The DC Pro X is my favorite for 121 ops. Small, light, very well built and the noise cancelling is one of the best. Talked to a guy at crew outfitters the other day and he said they sell far more DC Pro X's than any other headset. Plus it folds up and easily fits in the top pocket of my lunch box.
