Default Best Headset

Fellas,

What do you guys recommend for a good set of headsets. Im about to pull the tigger on BoseA20. How noisy is the E175 vs others?

Thanks.

No idea about the 175, but I'm loving the Bose QC15 plus UFlyMic combination in the CRJ. Great for DH's and Non Rev as well.

You can buy a decent QC15 used for $120 ish, and adding on the UFly you're less than $400 invested.

David Clark X11 gets my vote. On the ear, for me, is preferable to over the ear in the 121 hot mic environment. Good ANR and the blue tooth lets me study the company manuals I have downloaded on audible during cruise to keep up to date with FOM requirements.

The 175 isn't very noisy compared to many other jets. Nothing like the 145 or 737 at all.

The best headset for you is the one that you find affordable, comfortable and helps you hear with clarity. That particular headset is very subjective.

But that said, I've been using the Bose X for 14 or 15 years now. Have had it rebuilt once. It's quite adequate in the 170/175. Like any headset though, after about three or four hours into your flight, nothing feels good.

I didnt find the E175 noisy at all, not as quiet as a CRJ but not as noisy as a 145. I had telex 750s and thought they were great. Go for the 850s if you really want the ANR but i didnt find it necessary. Personally, i didn't wear the headset over 180 on most flights.

175 isn't as quiet as the Airbus, but it's close. Qc15's and the uflymic is my recommendation. Light, packs easy, and doesn't clamp. Best part is its 700$ cheaper than the A20. If you buy used its even better. I got my headset for 80$ off eBay, and the mic was new. So 330$ I think was my total investment. Plus you can use the qc15's in something other than aviation. Win win

One that doesn't get in the way of your oversized aviators and looks cool in all your selfies while flying.
