I could understand one's desire to pursue an easier training program. I think most of the negative reactions to the idea is based on a more broad cultural shift toward taking the easiest route. The "Participation Trophy" Generation if you will. Think of it this way, as you are being put under anesthesia for surgery, would you want a Doctor cutting you open that went to the "easiest medical school" in the industry?

As Airline Pilots, we have a great deal of responsibility while operating in a highly complex and dangerous environment. There is a reason that Military Pilots are favored by mainline HR departments and its not because military flight training is the easiest training around.

I'm sure that the passengers aboard Asiana Airlines Flight 214 wished that their pilots had been "challenged" a little more during their flight training.
Doesn't matter which regional you go to, at the end of the day we all have to meet ATP requirements in the sim doing the same maneuvers. Just some training departments will work more than others to get you to that level.

That is what I would say if I went to Mesa.

That's a pretty unprofessional thing to say. Unless you also went thru Mesa's training program, I mean. I have some military friends who went thru it, and they said the training was top-notch. To me, that says a lot, coming from those who have been thru the more rigorous military programs.

I've worked at three airlines in my career. And I find if you come in well prepared and a positive attitude, they'll work with you.
Know your flows, profiles, call outs, memory items and limitations and that's 90% of the battle.
If you show enthusiasm and willingness to learn and not talk back to the instructor, I find instructors will bend over backwards and do whatever they can to get a trainee through
(Been there done that)

I really don't have anything against Mesa pilots. I was just giving IflyRC a hard time. Trust me when I say, he has earned it. This is APC, my comments being viewed as professional or not is the least of my concern.

There is a reason why the smallest guy is always quick to fight and the giant gentle.

Would any Doctor/Surgeon work for 24 - 36 dollars per hour block time? And if they did, would you allow them to cut you open vs. an MD charging 1500/hr?

Say WHAT??? You mean to tell me APC isn't chock full of professionals?

Yeah, IFlyRC deserves it, for sure. And a few more. Just not all of Mesa's training department.
