Default How much PIC to be a street CA?

Not trying to generate flamebait , but with around 765 Turbine PIC (364 in Helicopters), I'm wondering:

How much Turbine PIC would get a guy a street CA job at Pinnacle?

What about Skywest?

Any others?

Something to consider about street CAs, they'll always be less senior to the upgrades. You could be a junior CA for a long time as FOs keep upgrading over you.

It's total time... street captains are FO's that are looking to get their turbine PIC with the dreams of moving on

Who is hiring street captains to a jet? I know Mesa did it for the 1900 and the Dash 8's {oh yeah by the way, those guys are about to take it in the behind} but who is bring on street caps in an RJ.

Some one made a good point about the street cap deal. If you can stand sitting reserve for awhile, considering moving into that reserve base because commuting blows, bad! You will sit reserve longer than others because FO's will upgrade around you in domicile and out of. For the pay and the PIC there is definately a trade off.

I'm just trying to gather information. I'm going to have to leave my current job (military) before my 1000 FW Turb PIC because I'm going to retire.

I figure that I would be able to suffer the reserve thing(away from home) logging PIC easier than it would be to log FO also away from home?

The problem with street captain gigs is this...if they are hiring street captains it means that their own FO's are not sticking around long enough to upgrade. This is usually a very bad indication of QOL, company culture, pay, and opportunity.

The only good case for taking a street captain job is to get the PIC...but in todays world PIC alone won't get you a major job, you have to know somoeone. If your uncle is a CP at FDX and is going to walk your resume in as soon as you hit 1000, then go for it. Otherwise consider carefully...no point in doing 1-2 years as a street captain only to not get hired by a major and start all over at another regional for QOL.

Nobody is hiring jet street captains, and it is unlikely that anyone will in the foreeable future. It's usually smaller turboprops like 1900's.

Rumor, and only rumor has it Chautauqua is running into staffing problems and may be looking to hire street guys. I would say this is most likely going to be jet captains from the bottom end of the seniority list at places like mesa. Again rumor from a few inside.

CHQ has the highest mins out there...1500 I think. They of all people should have a pool of qualified FO's.

Well PNCL IS having a staffing problem, but supposedly the mins for capt upgrades are getting dropped so FO's can upgrade. The street capts I have flown with have been on the rsv string for a good part of the time here. If you dont mind sitting rsv than its ok i guess, but I hate rsv even living in base. Keep in mind that if you get hired today and I upgrade 2 years from now- I will still bid higher than you b/c I have been here longer. Seniority rules. Good luck

forgot to mention- I believe the number of hours is 3000TT with 500 in the CRJ, or 3500TT. I could be wrong on that but I believe that was the street capt times. Most of the street capt I have flown with are ex-independence guys.
