Pretty sure AA painted some of the ATRs in SJU right before that closed up shop.

Northwest had repainted several Avros just to then retire them... Delta painted the Saabs then promptly parked them too. Fresh paint means nothing.

No I remember the paint jobs on the saabs. There was no plan for removing them from service at the time. I do believe, however, that there is a FAR that requires 121 flying to display livery

You should tell that to Republic then... they have a couple E-145 with blank paint jobs, SkyWest has a few generic paint jobs too. And as for the plan to remove the Saabs... That plan was the day Delta took over NWA... Rembember "Fly Delta Jets" The Saabs didn't qualify.
