As a general rule, the flight deck of aircraft used in 121 ops is not as loud of a place as anything in the GA world.
Smaller and lighter should be your goals.
Telex, clarity aloft, DC Pro-x... think along those lines. If you want extra noise reduction, wear earplugs under them.

I use Quiet Technoligies -HALO. Half the price of the other in ear headsets, I just the clarity aloft ear buds on it. Their warranty is great! I sent in an 8yr old pair for a repair and they sent me a brand new set. No more clamps on your head, the boom is reversable unlike the clarity aloft and the wire band forms to your head for snug fit unlike the clarity aloft. They aren't TSOd but I've never heard a word from anyone about it.

You'll find a ton of guys out there using the Bose Quiet Comfort 15 with the UFlyMike setup. Apparently they work well for noise canceling and are nice for commuting and watching stuff on the iPad without having to carry around two sets of headphones. Bose came out with a newer 25 model that the UFlyMike guys have been working on an adapter for, but that has been going on for almost two years now. Hopefully they get it done soon. A quick search in the forum search bar and you'll find a lot of guys on here who swear by them and they work well both GA and 121. Ps - I don't have them myself, holding out for their new setup.

They (clarity) were ok for short flights, but clamped and hurt after a while. I sold mine and much prefer my A20s. A20s were the best for both GA and CRJs for me. I had clarity alofts, Zulu 2s, and A20s. I only have the A20s now. I only use the supplied acft headsets now at my current airline, but the A20s will work when you are in the regionals. Also, the Bluetooth is great for listening to music.

Sort of been thinking about this lately... Do the big 4 manufacturers provide built in headsets or are they all like GA and the airline/pilots have to supply their own into standard jacks?
